Looking at the pictures of Obama's "Temple of Dumb", it struck me that it looked a great deal like the Lincoln Memorial.

Then I heard that Obama's speech is on the anniversiary of Dr. King's speech from 45 years ago today.
Where did Dr. King give that speech? He gave it in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

So we got it wrong. Obama does not think he is a Greek God, he really thinks he is Dr. Martin Luther King!
The sweet irony of a Democrat who divides people on race, speaking on the anniversiary of the Dr. King speech, and in front of a stage modeled after the founder of the Republican Party should not be lost.
Could Be...
The National Black Republican Associaton has posted fifty billboards around Denver saying MARTIN LUTHER KING WAS A REPUBLICAN! Isn’t that great?!!
What next Lance Link secret chimp to cover obamas back?
today is the anniversary of the I have a dream speech
It all fits. The speech was 45 years ago today, and that is the spitting image of the Lincoln Memorial.
Should we mention that Dr. King was a Republican?
But I think your point is incorrect.
Oh my, the Obamessiah photoshop pics that will come from that pompous stage setting will be to die for. And we thought McCain was arrogant, imagine him setting up a stage like that and the flak.
Which point?
I think you are right!
I made this point yesterday and was told that I was wrong. I still stand by it. The columns will be reminiscent of the Lincoln Memorial. Not exact, but enough to make similarities evident. THere will be tv commercials... Dr King sayb I have a dream... and BHussein say I’ve fulfilled that dream.... similar backgrounds behind them... all tied together in a neat little package.
Wow..that’s really going to impress all the white liberals and the black voters.BO will definitely win all of them over to his camp will all this imagery of MLK.
Oh wait!
The “I Have Esteem” Speech. Maybe Earth, Wind, and Fire can attend, and not just as musical entertainers.
They can double as “The Comprehensive Obama Energy Plan”.
As I stated this is going to be a huge mistake on his part! First he tries to pretend he is JFK and now this....he will come off as the arrogant idiot he is and people are not going to like him recreating the Dream—may piss lots of people off who knows! I don’t like it but then I don’t like the guy AT ALL!
Southern Dems who loved their country and who were willing to adopt the GOP platform of civil rights without quotas were welcomed into the party. The GOP didn't change, its views remained the same. The notion that the GOP is anti-black is one of the truly big lies that the media has managed to foist onto the public consciousness.
Moreover, I am convinced that middle America doesn’t need to hear another “I have a dream”. It’s like everyone says, “yep, we agree, now let’s move on.”
Another national conversation about race will just come across as hectoring middle America.
Of course the aging sixties hippies will love it, but they are already with The One. Bottom line, this is NOT going to work, it is going to further alienate Obama and show that he is in fact, just a liberal, just a Democrat, and just an African American candidate. He has failed to transcend any of those categories.
I thought MLK was a Republican.
He’s channeling Looney Tunes.
I wonder how this will go over? Obama isn't really African-American - his ancestors were never slaves here. King is revered in the African-American community - will they resent this rookie who hasn't accomplished anything yet comparing himself to King? How about Jesse Jackson, who considers himself King's heir, and who actually was with King in Memphis?
This whole Sermon on the Temple strikes me as a big gamble that could easily backfire. Can you say hubris?
I don't think it was designed to be a replica of the front of the Lincoln Memorial. That doesn't mean that Obama and company can't say that that is what it's suppose to be. I just won't buy their BS.
The windows on the set clearly show that it is NOT the Lincoln Memorial. It is the White House.
Good catch. I think you’re right.
Instead of “I Have a Dream”, it’ll be “I AM The Dream!”
Illinois Obama stars in "Raiders of the Lost Party"
Illinois Obama and The Temple of Dumb
Illinois Obama and "The Last Crusade"
Illinois Obama and the Kingdom of the Empty Skull
It’s pretty clear to me that it is the Oval Office... Honestly, who give a sh*t. Let this putz give his speach if front of whatever he wants.
Lipstick on a pig.
I can see the similarities.
Here is the White House.

It has Ionic columns, where the Lincoln Memorial are Doric, so I don't think that's it.
I think he was a Republican, although his last few years, I’m not sure if he changed affiliation or not. He definitely was a liberal in terms of social policy and the war, and flirted with the Communist Party for a while. But in the 50s, he was a Republican.
So, he’s switching parties? ;-)
So, he’s switching parties? ;-)

Exterior entrance from the Rose Garden into the Oval Office. Note the doric columns and windows.
I actually think it is a view from inside. those two large structures on the sides of the windows are the fire places. there is a pic on wikipedia, but i can’t get into my photobucket account to post it here.
Rush really is correct: in a sane world, this 143-day experience of this joker would make him a laughingstock even in the Democrat party.
Is there any documentation that you know of that King was a Republican? I’m not disputing it, because it wasn’t uncommon back then for people to register with a party they had almost nothing in common with for various regional or technical reasons. For all I know, Saul Alinsky may have been registered as a Republican.
The thing that bothers me is that people keep saying over and over that King was a Republican as if he was someone like Michael Steele or Clarence Thomas. And as if it’s somehow distorting or perverting King’s legacy for leftists today to invoke King. Sorry, but I see it as perfectly appropriate for leftists to invoke King, since he was a leftist both in his public stances and his less-than-honorable private conduct.
You are quite correct that King was not a conservative, and even had sympathy for Communists.
If he thinks he is Dr. King, some Republican should say "I knew Dr. King, and you are no Dr. King".
It's Hubris, either way.
Rush just said that Britney Spears’ set designer is the one responsible for this extravaganza, and McCain already has some ads ready to go!
I read that he was a registered Republican in the 50s, I don’t recall the source, but I think it is an undisputed fact. Google is your friend, if you are the seeker of further data.

.
Republicans also founded the NAACP
Good God, this gets more and more bizarre! Can you just imagine if he wins in November? His inauguration would be more like a coronation. I can just see it being like Emperoror Commodus’ coronation in the film Gladiator, laurel wreath on his head and all.
Thanks! I have great respect for Alveda King and I’m willing to take her word on this.
But I still don’t see why anyone thinks it’s effective to tell today’s leftist Democrats that MLK was a Republican. He clearly wasn’t a conservative, no matter how he was registered. Coretta King was a regular presence at Democrat conventions for many years. Other than Alveda, who seems to be something of a maverick within the King family, the rest of the family members seem to be hardcore leftists who support pro-infanticide Obama. Surely MLK would be supporting Obama if he were alive today.
I think we’d do a lot better to highlight today’s black conservatives (including Michael Steele, who’d be a great VP choice) instead of claiming a legacy with a past leftist who may have been technically registered as a Republican, but agreed with the Dems 98% of the time.
I just saw the pics at the NY Post and my 2 thoughts were *White House* and *Lincoln Memorial*.
It's a White Castle.
