On a plane from Denver to Charlotte following the Democrats' convention, I found myself seated behind former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina. Their conversation was interesting to say the least.
For example, they made fun of Sarah Palin for several minutes, Fowler calling her "Dan Quayle" on steroids and Spratt creatively describing her as "just terrible." They both agreed that, "Other than the simple fact that she's a female," she has nothing to offer.
Then there was this gem of a moment from Fowler:
So you see, it's funny. That New Orleans will get a hurricane. That's funny because it is due to hit when President Bush is scheduled to speak. Isn't that cool? Fowler isn't the only one who thinks so, just ask Michael Moore.
We all know Democrats used and use Katrina as a political football as callously as possible. Here's a candid moment showing some can hardly wait for another one.
I thought the only god Democrats believed in is GOVERNMENT
Ask them what kind of God do they believe in? I think Bobby Jindal or Haley Barbour should ask that question from the podium in the Twin Cities after playing this video.
We already got a Hurricane of our own - Hurrican Palin!
Gonna destroy pro-abort support in the Dem party.
They hope for the destruction of a major city, just to embarrass the President? They don’t deserve in charge of a major party.
Someone secretly filmed with a cellphone from the seat behind? That is devastating. Needs to be circulated.
let them say stupid, let them be stupid
Too much cynicism is bad for your health. I keep wondering if Republicans can make Democrat hacks rue the day they uttered this. Republicans keep thinking that the situation is static.
Looks like ad material to me.
Could someone please tell me what John Spratt’s reaction was to Fowler's hurricane comment? Did he laugh or reply?
Spratt is my congressman and I would like to know.
Can’t wait until we get the last laugh on these Dem hacks.
It needs to be held on to until after a hurricane hits.
Unbelievable.
God is on their side? They are disGUSTING!
The owner of this footage should bombard every news organization with it. The MSM won’t touch it, of course, although it would be the ONLY news for the next couple of days if Republicans were talking.
He should also try really hard to get it to McCain.
MM
Agreed but that will only be a couple of days.
only 246 views when I looked. More people should see this.
And Fowler thinks it's funny.
Once again, the Dems demonstrate what a class act they are.
These people are sick!
This needs to be circulated to Rush, Powerline, Hannity, Drudge, LGF, etc.!
wow. cold busted.
They believe in a God that sends hurricanes to destroy people’s lives and properties so that democrats can blame it on republicans and get elected to political office.
Of course when “right wing fundamentalists” cite the “will of God” for AIDS and muslim-nation destroying earthquakes and tsunamis, the same people are appalled that anyone would worship such a vengeful God much less put His name on currency.
This is part of the doctrine of the the Church of Pope Pelosi, and reflected in the Gospel of Job..
Today’s homily is completed, go in peace.
I am glad he finds it so funny. I just turned on the TV to see everyone evacuating and worrying whether or not their home will be there when they return. Ha Ha. NOT
Just when I think they cannot get any lower.
Once again the democrats tolerance and love of diversity and compassion is on display for all to see.
He is a slimey creep's slimey creep.
Did you interrupt them to ask how funny it will be for the people in it’s path? Just curious.....
Just remember back when Katrina hit. Who was there to step in and help and who was it that whined and pointed fingers?
When the fruits got squeezed we saw either fresh juice or or putrid liquid flow out. Round 2 coming soon for all to see.
That is really a left handed compliment.
I guess he forgot (or never knew) that Dan Quayle was elected as part of the George H. W. Bush ticket where he served as the forty-fourth Vice President of the USA for four full years.
I haven't been able to find any reference to Don Fowler being elected to any national office.
Dan Quayle also had a distinguished career in Congress setting some election records along the way and decisively beating Birch Bayh, one of the Democrats' congressional stars of that era:
"In 1976, Quayle was elected to the U.S. Congress from Indiana's Fourth Congressional District, defeating eight-term incumbent Democrat J. Edward Roush.
He won reelection in 1978 by the greatest percentage margin ever achieved to that date in the northeast Indiana district. In 1980, at age 33, Quayle became the youngest person ever elected to the U.S. Senate from the state of Indiana, defeating three-term incumbent Democrat Birch Bayh.
Making Indiana political history again, Quayle was reelected to the Senate in 1986 with the largest margin ever achieved to that date by a candidate in a statewide Indiana race. His 1986 victory was notable because several other Republican Senators elected in 1980 were not returned to office."
Not too shabby at all!
If Fowler truly believes that Palin has nothing to offer except for being a woman, he’s truly unqualifed for his position. If he doesn’t realize that Palin has just united the conservative base and brought in a lot of disinterested voters, he’s a moron. But I guess that’s obvious.

“Yuu know, we could just as easily say that Hurricane Gustav is God’s wrath upon the “Southern Decadence 2008” gay festival taking place in New Orleans this week. But, we wouldn’t say that...”
I agree that’s not the right thing to say, but none of us are former RNC chairs.
“former RNC chairs”
Well, capital “C” Chair, not the furniture.
Destroying the homes and lives of millions of Americans is a "favor to democrats". Right. Got it...Good stuff for the rats.
GF
If we get a hurricane heading up here in the NE I'm just going to take off. I'll hitchhike if I have to instead of waiting for Chrome dome to help. Their programs haven't even helped at all.
Well, I just emailed the link to my entire address book, with one or two exceptions. If everyone did that, the news would spread.
AMEN BROTHER!
Good job. Let’s see how this plays out.
Good job. Let’s see how this plays out.
Thank you.
Hopefully Rush and the others will make hay from this on Monday.
‘If he doesnt realize that Palin has just united the conservative base and brought in a lot of disinterested voters, hes a moron. But I guess thats obvious.’
This was the most important thing McCain needed to do. All the rest that results is frosting on the cake. With an energized base, McCain will win. That is the part the dumbocrats can’t fathom.
“For the hearing impaired, could someone post a transcript of the important part of the video? Thanks in advance.
GF”
OK, I’ll give it a shot. It may not be exact because a few words are difficult to make out. It is one person saying this in the video:
“...looks like the hurricane is going to hit New Orleans about the time they start. The timing is, at least it appears now, that it will be there {then?}. It just demonstrates that God is on our side.”
And he is chuckling throughout.
New tagline.
It really appalls me to see such old men that are so immature and childish. Wishing for the death and distruction that a hurricane can reek just to embarass the President. Someone should send the link to a south Louisanna TV station for them to play for their viewers!
Fox news just ran this on their ticker. Sweet :)
Great...posting this on all my posts:
Click on the youtube link in my tagline to hear DNC chairman Don Fowler laugh at the thought of a hurricane hitting New Orleans.
Awesome... I sure hope this has legs
No problem. Looks like Fox News has seen it.
Yep, just ran again and was pretty well covered.
