(VIDEO) Young Republicans Forced To Take Down "BUILD THE FENCE!" Banner At G.O.P. Convention (WTH?)
Eyeblast TV ^ | 6 September 2008 | Eyeblast TV, interview of 4 Pro-Border Young Republicans at RNC, St. Paul

Posted on 09/06/2008 5:22:01 PM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

"Organizers of the Republican convention demanded that a group of young Republicans take down their "Build The Fence" signs, a reference to a border fence to fight illegal immigration, while at the Xcel Center last night."

While watching live TV, I caught this big sign being unfurled, along with other home made signs in the crowd, televised live: BUILD...THE...FENCE

This particular one kind of reminded me of the Reagan guy walking around at the 1976 Jerry Ford RNC Convention with a big "Kissingers Loves Kremlin" sandwich sign on both sides--but they could do nothing.

See the video. It may take a little time to load, be patient. Freepers might also crash it I would guess!

Looks like a couple of clean cut, sincere Young Republicans here being interviewed. WTH?! is what I thought.

They were told NO ANTI ILLEGAL ALIEN/PRO BORDER SECURITY signs...by Republican Organizers via a Secret Service agent. I extrapolate that the "Viva McCain" handwritten signs were not told to come down.

Judge for yourself if this is a sign of things to come. What do Freepers think about this? It strikes me as censorship, and also perhaps indicative of certain unrepentant viewpoints held by the Republican Party powers that be, perhaps??

This is my big issue with McCain. I noticed the illegal issue was not addressed anytime during the convention. It wasn’t mentioned on the Saddleback forum either. This is the 800 pound gorilla in the room.

Well it certainly makes the GOP platform seem a bit less sincere.

It’s my stand or fall issue with Sarah Palin as well.

This will be conveniently brought up by the media quite a bit before the election. It will be an attempt to split the newly reconciled factions of the republican party. Lets save this fight until after we win.

It is. But you need to understand that the Republican Party is a PRIVATE organization and can filter whatever message that they want to - since it is under their control.

We need to pray that God uses Sarah Palin as a modern day Deborah to bring our nation to repentance.

You (and other Freepers) simply MUST see this video and tell us what you think and more importantly, if this is right or fair or pruden on their part, and next, what are we going to do about it.

They are sweeping this VERY CRITICAL NATIONAL SECURITY issue underneath the rug with the rest fo the elephant dung, if you ask me. We, the base, who are crystal clear on this border security problem, simply cannot have that IMHO.

I was wondering when the question of illegal immigration would show up.

The border - one of a few huge weaknesses with McCain, that he continually fails to address in his speeches. This is one of a few areas where he has definitely NOT worked for the American people, but rather against them (The McCain-Kennedy Immigration Reform Bill).

Just a little sign that not all is well in McCain’s head. On the other hand, not giving the lefties something to make an issue of makes sense.

Alright, so all you trolls, and that is what you are, that are making a big deal out of this go ahead and don't vote for McCain, it won't make any difference, he and Sarah are going to win. I am as much against illegals as anyone, it makes my blood boil but I want Sarah Palin in the WH as VP so that she can there as President in 2012.

It is the only chance we have of taking our country back. If you are going to be nitpicky about this you will surely lose your battle. McCain and Palin will win, the momentum is growing so with or without you guys who are bitching here it will come about. Fight this battle later and don't be too quick to think Sarah is for Amenesty.

Thanks to AmericanInTokyo for the ping!

Quotes from the Young Republicans in the video:

"We have borders for a reason. If you cross those borders, it makes you a criminal."

"We are inviting criminals into our society."

But...but...I thought Juan McCain said they were all "God's children" just looking for a better life? /sarc

It strikes me as censorship...

Typical McQueeg. If you listen carefully, you will hear that the "control room" at the convention was involved.

We must never forget the last time that Juan tried to silence conservatives:

I saved that fight till after Bush won and all I got was an attempt at amnesty and snide remarks to the effect that I knew what I was getting when I voted for him.

That’s not happening again.
