Obama pronounces the name of the town “Wasilly”.

Fits right in with the "Nittaly Lions."

He has to concentrate so he can hide his gay lisp.

The Zero (see tagline) doesn't make gaffes. His advisers will be along shortly to explain that what you heard was not what he said. The reason he has so many uh, uh, um, well breaks in his speech patterns is he is trying to think of how to word his answers so that the expert interpreters in his campaign staff can insert the proper words that he really meant to say.

Willie Brown is much more than a broken clock. He is a very shrewd, able politician, a total pro. For him to recognize, and publicly admit, the seismic impact of Palin is... hugh and series!

Rope-a-dope is also commonly used to describe strategies in areas other than boxing, where one party purposely puts itself in what appears to be a losing position, and then becomes the eventual victor.”

Hat tip to Willie on this one. He’s an old pro who recognizes a talented and formidable political opponent and he isn’t afraid to give Palin her due. And he did it with no cheap shots. Is he always this fair-minded?

I used to hate Willie Brown, when he was California's Assembly Speaker, using his power to block Republicans. Then he became San Francisco's mayor. I worked for S.F., and got to see him up close in City Hall. I came to respect him. He knows power, and wields it effectively. I'd be in a crowded elevator in City Hall, the doors would open, and Willie Brown would be standing there, staring everyone down with a steely glaze. As if by magic, everyone moves aside and creates a large area for him to step inside. One time he stepped in and just stared me in the face until the elevator opened at his floor. From that time on I knew he had some kind of magic strength.

Sarah Palin has this magic, and I think Willie recognizes and acknowledges such in her.

Are you mad? NO WAY. Willie Brown is a playah. He's responsible in CA for pushing pub ed "graduation quotas". He was also responsible for attempting to push quotas for whites, so that all other quotas could remain in place. The list of Willie Brown's self-centered, Marxist accomplishments could fill several books.

However, in person, he's very engaging.

Do you know how he got his political start in San Francisco?

Yep, a cab driver for the prostitutes. He later began pushing to unionize prostitutes.

He wants his hand back into politics. He recognizes a fierce playah in Mrs. Palin. Willie wants back in the game. That's all this is about. He wants back in the game, things are that desperate for the Dems, Willie see's his opportunity.

Therefore, no. I do NOT see this as a compliment coming from Willie Brown. Reader Beware.

We all missed him come the energy crisis of 2000-2001,

No "we" didn't; Willie was responsible for setting up so much of the energy crisis CA had, from the getgo. The man leaves stink-bombs.

I've never hated Willie Brown. He's a sleazy, down-low brawler who did more to screw up California than most will ever know. Anyone who ever digs into the ROOTS of what ails California will find the name Willie Brown, right there at the source.

Gee Willie, how's your friendship with Amos Brown going? You know... Amos Brown, just like Reverend Wright, but of the West.

"Republicans are now on offense and Democrats are on defense. And we don't do well on defense. "

If anyone in the GOP can push, it's these two.

Months back, a curious anomoly was witnessed in how Dem Mayors, Governor and Leadership were going to vote. Lower level types were definitely voting "Obama"; the higher "in party" players were voting Hillary.

I hope FReepers and Conservatives are paying attention to who from the standard left is chiming in, especially, in support of Mrs. Palin. Beware especially of playahs like Willie, who'd far rather see Hillary in a debate with Mrs. Palin.

I've seen this play before, not as in the open, but oh yeah, I've seen it. It's called "killing with kindness". Aka, a set-up.

In a CA Prop 209 debate sponsored by The Federalist Society in Sacramento - the subject of special admissions preferences for offspring of College/U Professors came up. Co-author 209 Glynn Custred asserted his kids had never gotten "special privileges".

Willie Brown, on the opposing side of the panel hotly retorted: "I don't care, I'm not talkin' about your idiot children".

Take that one to the bank, pls.

Willie is a self-dealing scumbag and blowhard, but nobody doubts his political acumen. This column is going to chill the guts of the Democratic bigwigs.

I think you’re right..she is doing a rope-a-dope! I saw her in an interview with CNBC recently..it was before her VP pick. She was outstanding. Granted, she was talking about energy, but her specificity was incredible...she knows what she’s talking about. I’m sure she has not ignored the realities of the world or the conservative positions on these issues. She’ll need to study up, but it’s obvious she’s a quick study AND consistent in her beliefs. She will blow them away but not before she gets the media clammoring for her ....and upping the audience as well!

Holy cow. A Dem who gets it. Now is the time to get concerned. As long as they didn’t get it, we were in great shape. But get this: “she really is one of us.”

This reminds me of a Bill Clinton interview right after he left office and after Bush’s win.

He was actually interesting because he was talking political strategy without agenda getting in the way.

He said he saw George W. Bush on a hay bale in the middle of nowhere Iowa....this was in 1999 I believe...early early in the campaign....and knew he was going to be a tough candidate. How he connected with people etc.

When political people aren’t spinning, they know who has “it” and who doesn’t. Even Carville is probably telling Mary M in private “Oh _____ Palin is good.”

It is interesting Brown actually put it in print.

Anything can be “set up”, any system can fail. The point of having leadership is to adjust systems when conditions change. In the summer of 2000 the headless legislature and the idiot governor couldn’t make the required changes (permit utilities to make forward contracts).

In fact this fix did get through the legs in the summer, but Davis killed it.

If Willie had been running things he would have muscled Davis into reality, probably while taking huge payoffs, but still, thats a heck of a lot cheaper than the alternative.
