Palin expresses support for Israel

WASHINGTON – Senator McCain's running mate in the US presidential election, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, met with the board of directors of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee on Wednesday and expressed her admiration for Israel. The meeting took place inside Palin's hotel, sources said.

A campaign official would not say who asked for the meeting, but said it was geared towards putting the American Jewish community at ease over her understanding of US-Middle East relations.

"That's obviously going to be an issue," the aide said. "It's not like being the senator from New York, obviously. But these aren't issues that are off her radar."

Palin, joined by Sen. Joe Lieberman, expressed her "heartfelt support for Israel" and spoke of the threats it faces from Iran and others, the campaign official said. She also claimed to have planned a visit to the country in November of 2007, but had to cancel when she was pregnant.

AIPAC spokesman Josh Block was pleased with the meeting. "We had a good productive discussion on the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship, we were pleased that Gov. Palin expressed her deep, personal, and lifelong commitment to the safety and well-being of Israel," he said.

"Like Sen. McCain, the vice presidential nominee understands and believes in the special friendship between the two democracies and would work to expand and deepen the strategic partnership in a McCain/Palin Administration."

Palin has previously met with Israeli Foreign Ministry official David Akov, who served as Israel's Consul General for the Pacific Northwest Region. During the meeting the two discussed cooperation between Israel and Alaska on various issues, such as counter-terrorism efforts.

Akov invited Palin to visit Israel and the governor expressed her desire to do so. She also reportedly told Akov that Alaska's residents love Israel.

No foreign policy experience?

Well, you must remember that for too much of The Democratic Party
and their unindicted co-conspirators that circulate freely as
a Jihadi fifth-column (thanks to the NY Times and the ACLU)...

The USA and Israel are just "Great Satan" and "Little Satan".
Not legitimate countries, but merely a conspiracy of evil intent
on destroying Islam.
(Well, that's THEIR VIEW)

Thus the USA and Israel aren't legitimately "countries".
Hence Gov. Palin has no "foreign policy experience".

Honestly, that's the way some Democrats probably analyze this
situation.
And thusly their prayer is for Obama's "Change".
And to convert the USA to a kinder, gentler and neutered
vassal-state to any sort of nutty socialist idea to come down the pike.

When do we get to the smiting and smoting? Do you think most Muslims are nutso or do you think they hear the word of God?

Personally I Think Islam is flawed in that it hasn’t been vetted as in the reformation and introspection of the Christian and Jewish faiths.

The Mussies are running wild.

I will never understad how the Koran can be the word of God an cat be altered under penalty of death but ALL the Mussies interpret it through the Hadiths and the Sura. Men twisting the words

"I can, to some degree, understand the apprehension seeing the misery a very advanced "Christian" country visited on the Jews of Europe "

IF you think Adolph was a Christian...... Where in the New Testament does it say kill all the Jews?

And concurrently, why do the majority of the Jews think the Socialists (Nationalist or otherwise) wont?

“Why to the jewish people reject conservatives?
A curious question”

I have often wondered the same thing.

A lot of Jews are atheist, they see Jewishness as a race, not as a religion.

They are starting to to have a change of heart. That is where we get the term neo-con. It is the lefts way of saying “dirty Jew.” That is the take from my Jewish relatives, anyway.

Well, when your idea of G_dly perfection is an illiterate, lying, murdering, thieving, multiple wife beating, child molester, you tend not to progress as a society.

There's not enough there in the first place worth saving!

The Mussies are running wild.

I'm not a theologian and I don't even play one on TV.
So what follows is just my fallible personal opinion.

From all I learned on 9-11 and having watched the Saudi-subsidized
apologetics "Legacy of The Prophet" that aired a month or two
on PBS (with your and my tax dollars!!!) after 9-11...
Islam simply comes up short as a transcendent religion/philosophy.

It's a decent "Bushido" code for surviving in a barren landscape with
insufficient resources to sustain a large, peaceable population.
In general, that's what I see in Islam.

The Koran presents a veneer of religional respectability for
beheading enemies and enslaving the non-believers' wives and children.
And "paradise" and "virgins" for the males that perish in the
enterprise.

The Koran appears to be a decent codification of what to do to make
oneself rich after stealing other people's stuff.

But in fairness...I'd say it sounds like required reading for
the MBA program in today's universities.

Kinda' like "The Art of War" on steroids and infused with
a hyper-fervent religiosity.

Interesting. But wouldn’t they still feel a threat from an Arab friendly party (dems)???

I had thought it had more to do with their opposition to Christianity....but that was just speculation on my part...

IF you think Adolph was a Christian......

LOL!!!
I don’t think so.
But apparently Hyper-Genius Bill Clinton and a fair number of
folks think Hitler was a (REAL) Christian. It’s a matter of their
liberal/Socialist faith, I guess!

You have my great thanks for providing me a pretext to post a link to
a great article from National Review.

There was a reason I used the term
“Christians (faux, nominal or real)”.

Hitler hi-jacked Christian symbology to help mobilize a fair number
of Germans.
I remember having some chills seeing archival news-reels that showed
a Christmas tree topped with a lighted swastika.
(from a documenatary on Bonhoeffer)

Additionally, there are some extant Nazi-era posters (at a website
run by Calvin College in Michigan?) that shows how Hitler exploited
Christian symbology for the evil ends of the Nazis.

You Mean Hitler Wasn’t A Priest?

Heck, even some Christians within the Palestinian zone identify
more with Palestian Muslims than with the Israelis.

I remember hearing radio-show host Hugh Hewitt interviewing
the head of a Christian (Baptist?) bible college in (IIRC)
Jerusalem.

The guy sounded like an ambassador for the "Christian amabassador
for Hamas and Hezbollah".

When I listened to this guy pimping for the Islamicists,
I thought I was having a stroke!

“oh noz?” what does that mean, oh no? Is there some reason she should NOT support Israel, the only true friend of America in the middle east? And for the record, let me educate you—there are plenty of conservative Jews and our numbers are growing. I am proud to be one of them!

We had dinner last night with our good friends who are Jewish and democrat. They admit they’re usually “not political” and aren’t junkies as we are. But they LOVE Sarah Palin, and WILL be voting for McCain this year.

Just a point of information “they” (you meant Jews) don’t all think in one voice as a monolithic unit. Listen to Mark Levin if you get the chance—he puts so well the gratitude and respect that Jewish conservatives have for the support Jews have received from many in the Christian community. But then there are others in that community who think like you—that we all “oppose” Christianity. That is just plain ignorance.

Sorry, if I offended you, I certainly was not referring to ALL Jews, as I know people who refer to themselves as “Jewish Christians or Christian Jews”. And I do know that the nation of Israel is really appreciative of our support. I was speculating, which is exactly what I said, as to why many Jews vote democrat. I never said that ALL Jews oppose Christianity, nor do I think that.

"Why to the jewish people reject conservatives?

" This question has baffled me for some time. First, I find it incomprehensible that Jews overwhelmingly vote for the party and candidates endorsed by the jihadists, sworn to kill us all, Jews first and with special vigor. Second, can't have it both ways. Christian fundamentals command us to embrace Israel "those who bless Israel shall be blessed and those who condemn her shall be condemned" (paraphrasing). This makes American Religious Conservatives the best friend the Jews and Israel have ever had. Contrast this with the international left, who spew venom towar Israel and the Jews..... Well, as I said, it's baffling.
