Video: No, Obama didn’t “admit” to being a Muslim on ABC

Within 10 minutes of this airing wed already gotten four or five e-mails about it; 20 minutes later, a bowdlerized version had already hit YouTube and begun circulating. I despise lefty sites for twisting conservatives words by selectively editing clips, so lets cut this one off at the pass before it gets going. Heres the full exchange with Stephanopoulos, making it perfectly clear that when he says my Muslim faith hes referring to how the people smearing him see him, not how he sees himself. No mas, please.

It took Stephanopoulos to correct him and it certainly places doubts in peoples minds to whether if Obama is being honest.

Isn't this the guy who's going to bring world peace just at the sound of his voice and words?
So ...uh...why is he...um...come on, now...let's get real here...you know as well as I know... Mr. Stumblelips?
Listen to the whole exchange in context. The guy can barely speak, much less make the waters part! Incoherent!

I watched it and there is no denying that it was a Freudian slip... “MY MUSLIM RELIGION” flowed very naturally out of his mouth. He didn't even realize that he had screwed up until georgie corrected him... and it took an inordinate amount of time for him to come up with a semi-coherent response. De bunked my arse!

It's been said here many times that we understand the context but:
- If it was a Republican it would be very biased and screaming from every headline
- A lot of his gaffes seem innocent until added up together ... he either has a lot to hide or is a bumbling idiot
- Could you make a mistake like that?
- Look how fast the interviewer rushes to his defense, if a repub said it no help would be forthcoming
- Off a telepromptor we see his total inability to think clearly
- Was it a slip of the tongue or a 'slip-of-the-mind'?
- Add up all these 'gaffes' plus the many discrepancies of his past and it raises to some serious questions about him
To: Mamzelle
Thank you! Excellent.

i saw the whole clip and your right way out of context. I despise obama but this is exactly what he was talking about.
I”m sure i’ll get flamed but it was just a confusion in how steffy phrased the questions and obama even went on to clarify.

I tend to think he didn’t admit anything. Still....it shows he’s not the sharp intellectual he’s portrayed to be. He bumbles, stumbles, and produces gaffes at a record pace. Definitely not presidential material.

Perhaps it was just a gaffe. But Barry keeps making a lot of them and he doesn't look all that confident about himself. There has to be some doubt he's a Christian. He doesn't need Steffy to get it right for him!

I see no difference, it still seems to me that Obambi slipped, he made the Muslim comment too quickly/confidently/casually, he didn’t immediately pick it up if it was in fact a mistake on his part and it took Steph to correct him. One more thing, I think Steph was tough on him, he didn’t cover for Obambi, he kept defending the McCain campaign against Obambi’s disgraceful inferences. The messiah is not ready for prime time to say the least.

A gaffe is FAIR GAME. Or I can't spell potato. The singular spelling variants "potato" vs. "potatoe" co-existed into the 19th century. In the 20th century "potato" came to be considered the correct singular, and "potatoe" considered a misspelling. The plural remains "potatoes'".

They can claim what they want, but he still alluded to his religion as being Muslim. And George had to correct him on it. Imagine, Bambi saying he "finds it deeply offensive," that regarding his faith, people say he isn't who he says he is.
Well gee Bambi, maybe if you hadn't sat in a pew for 20 years listening to the hate-filled speech of your "father-figure" Pastor, your religious beliefs wouldn't be questioned, you doofus.

"I despise lefty sites for twisting conservatives words by selectively editing clips, so lets cut this one off at the pass before it gets going" Cripes, I hate that PC BS line. This is a war and it won't be won by playing nice. Stoop to the enemies' level and go lower. Lie, cheat, and steal to defeat them. Do those things better and more effectively than they do. Do you think right and wrong are the same? When the enemy stoops to defeat good it is an evil thing thing they do. When the good guys stoop to defeat evil it is a righteous thing they do.

he said “My Muslim faith”, not “my Muslim religion” but yes it was a naked Sigmund slip.
Folks here who think the Left will accept olive branches of fair play and respond in kind are hopelessly naive.
Rush is very clear on this and I agree.
It’s an excellent soundbite to exploit by 527s.
This is war not yet by any other means folks.
The real issue here though is that the Left would welcome a Muslim or any other non Christian or even non believing Jewish president.

He's very inarticulate, and it's hard for me to listen to such a poor speaker. However, it does seem like his "admission" is taken out of context.
But the point raised at the link is a very good one: Obama smears the McCain campaign for everything anyone says against Obama, even when McCain says "Knock off the attacks against Obama". And so on that basis, Obama MUST be responsible for all of the disgusting slurs against Palin. The fact that Obama has said "Knock off the disgusting slurs" does not matter -- at least by Obama's standards.

From what I understand, a Muslim wouldn't say “my Muslim faith.”
“Muslim” is a person who practices Islam. If it were a true Fruedian slip, Obama would have said “my Islamic faith.”
Muslim and Islam cannot be used interchangeably to describe both the person and the religion as the word “Christian” can.

If you have heard only the short clip that is on Youtume, I can understand why you would as me to elaborate what he was trying to say, but if you saw the discussion in context, you wouldn’t need to ask. He said “Senator McCain does not talk about ‘my Muslim faith’”, meaning, McCain does not say that BHO is of the Muslim faith.
