I hope they are able to get that “Blessed Toenail of St. Peter” back.

Snide comments aside, you should know that the tabernacle usually contains consecrated hosts -- i.e. what we believe to be the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ himself.
Now go smear other religions somewhere else.

It’s believed the crooks came in through a side window and stole major items including:
-The Tabernacle
-Vintage Chandelier
-Priest’s Chalice
-A Gold Cup
-Icon from Russia
-Body of Crucifixion Stolen off Crosses

Hate crime anyone?
Downtowns in older cities were once (no longer!) Catholic concentrations. Who lives in this area now?
Hate crime by anti-Christian/pro-abortion zealots?
Witch/satanism rituals?
Or a more simple street crime?

All of that is replacable, with the exception of the tabernacle. That is sacred.

That offends me...and I'm not even Catholic.
Now if you want to bash islam...go for it.
But you'd be well advised to stay away from the Catholics.

All of that is replacable, with the exception of the tabernacle. That is sacred. The contents, yes. Without them, the Tabernacle is one huge chunk of gold. And if this was the original Tabernacle in an older church, the gold content of the plating is probably pretty high.
Pathetic that anyone would do that.

How many sacred items did Christ own?
To: Westlander
Our Catholic church was vandalized a couple of weeks ago. The pigs broke a bench into a million pieces and tried to destroy a statue of Mary, too. Luckily, it was too heavy and they couldn’t pick it back up after dropping it to the ground the first time.
My former sister-in-law’s boyfriend told me of a Catholic church being vandalized in Colorado. In their case, the perps put pictures up on MySpace, so they found out who supposedly did it. Allegedly, the church they belonged to had it swept under the rug. (Former sis-in-law is a lawyer, so she is always lecturing me on use of words to avoid libel/slander.)
