Headed straight for DFW, as a TS, but could be a bunch of tornadoes still associated with it.

Looks like it's headed straight for Corpus.

Cubar really took a pounding to knock this thing down from Cat 3.

One thing I hated to see was the speed dropping
from 14 MPH to 8 MPH which makes it more dangerous.

Track trend is rightwards. It would be interesting to see where Rita was forecast to go at this point.

My shipments going to the Houston area have been cancelled for now. Everybody in the area is stocking up and evacuating. I hope that this doesn’t become another Galveston-like hurricane from 1900 or Hurricane Mitch.

Ike's gotten bigger as he moved slowly over the warmest water in the Gulf

Now he's going to pull his arms in like a spinning skater over slightly cooler water, spin faster and slowly pick up forward speed

Prayers up for those in his path

.

Anywhere north of Corpus looks bad for me - I’m on the southwest side of the greater Houston area -

after being rather slow, pressure has dropped a lot in the past hour or so...

temperature between inner and outer eyewall has increased...

looks go for some strengthening here.

One of our glorious local TV stations here in Houston has in its crawler that Bell County has announced voluntary evacuation.

Ha! Bell County is in the center of the state.

It is Bee County, according to the Beeville news webpage, which is under voluntary evacuation.

Funny stuff. The TV station can’t get the name of the county right.
