Heroism--going beyond the sum of one's own parts, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually--is nothing to liberals, a lie perpetuated by John Wayne-like movie stereotypes. In real life, to them, one is only exhibiting heroism when enacting an incredibly narrow set of responses to life and the challenges life offers those who try to live life to its fullest.
In diminishing heroism, the liberals replace it with victimhood and feeling. McCain isn't a hero to them because the libs only see him as a puppet of the evil war machine, who endured pain and such...but Obama represents the pain endured by ALL "persons of color" and Hillary represents the pain of ALL women, ever. Their greatest "achievments" are those they had nothing at all to do with--being born black and female, respectively. (Don't go there...)
Heroism is a lie to them, while victimhood is the great unifier--it's TOUGH being heroic (like, say, giving birth to a Down Syndrome baby knowing you are taking on a huge responsibility), but it's the easiest thing in the world to be a victim of some kind. The next best thing is to be someone who wants to take from those who have and give those things (money, status) to those who don't--thus, you're elevating yourself by telling OTHERS that they have to share. I'm thinking of Kerry, Edwards, Kennedy--rich white folks who are truly heroic for their "victim-saving" actions.
