One caller to Ms. Smith's show Monday said she was so worried that she planned to go to her church to begin working on a voter-registration drive. Can you IMAGINE what would happen if a white Evangelical or Catholic said this? The IRS would be down on his house in helicopters the very next day, so they could take away the church's tax-free status for even having a member who was THINKING about this.
But we'll see the busses outside of every black church in the country come election day, and not a word said.

“she was so worried that she planned to”... vote 3 or 4 times

“The worries aren’t universal. New York Gov. David Paterson, a Democrat, acknowledged the concerns about race. “I am hearing those jitters,” he said. But he said many Democratic candidates have lost the presidential race in recent decades and “they were white candidates. African-Americans need to remember that.”

So only white democrats can lose presidential elections??? Blacks are guaranteed a win just because they are black?

“If Sen. Obama loses, “African-Americans could be disappointed to the point of not engaging in the process anymore,” or consider forming a third political party, said Richard McIntire, communications director for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.”
Now that’s a raceist comment if I ever heard one.....

Good. If you are stupid enought to vote mindlessly for a guy who will be poison for the greatest country on earth, stay the F home...
To: forkinsocket
Riot? LOl, let ‘em! The morons who engage in or instigate these riots would be solely responsible for totally erasing the progress made by the black community since 1962.
That would be 46 years of effort and gains thrown away.

Yeah, what if McCain DOES win? What do the Americans of African origin do then? Spread out to “organize” the community, with a few fires and overturned vehicles, spilling out into Uptown, and scaring the white folk?
That will move to nullify the election, all right.

If Sen. Obama loses, "African-Americans could be disappointed to the point of not engaging in the process anymore," or consider forming a third political party, said Richard McIntire, communications director for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. I would welcome this response, The dims would never win another race. About Obama losing. I'm afraid even the anoited one still has to get the most votes.

Can you imagine the scenario if the subject was white?
The crescendo of racism charges and outrage would envelope and suffocate us all.

Being black does not entitle you to be elected. It's called an election because people get to vote for who they want. The Bush administration has put many black Americans in top positions, and Republicans would elect a conservative African American as president in a heart beat. It's not about race. It's about Obama’s ideology and plans.

Geez, sorta sounds like some ‘entitlement’ mindset has infected the psychosis here. I mean, just ‘create’ an ‘ideal’ candidate, and all you have to do is just ‘show up’, and you get the ‘prize’ handed to you.
To: forkinsocket
"Some people said they would be so angry it would be reminiscent of the [1960s] riots -- that is how despondent they would be."These are not so veiled threats. You really can tell a lot about a person by the company he/she keeps. Obama is king of the sore losers and cry-babies.
To: forkinsocket
Sadly, race continues to be a focus on the Democrat side. Seemingly, it doesn't matter that Barack Obama is “black” and “white.” Giving additional voice to the “anger” may help to validate and promote the sore loser attitude.
