Biden Gave Average of $369 Annually to Charity in Last Decade
upi via email no link | 9/12/8

Posted on 09/12/2008 11:36:40 AM PDT by NativeNewYorker

Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Delaware Senator Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee for vice president, and his wife reported giving less than half of one percent of their income to charity during the past decade, below the national average, tax records show.

A Biden spokesman said the couple has given more to charity than they claimed on their taxes.

Biden and his wife, Jill, earned $319,853 in adjusted gross income and paid $72,787 in federal taxes last year, including $2,721 in alternative minimum taxes. They claimed $995 in deductions for charitable giving, about triple what they deducted in any of the nine previous years. Over the past decade they reported giving an average of $369 to charity.

Their deductions for charitable giving -- about two-tenths of one percent of their income -- is lower than the national average of about 3.1 percent, according to JustGive.org, a nonprofit organization that connects donors with charities.

``That lack of charitable giving at that level of income would definitely be outside the range of what we say is normal,'','' said Russell James, a professor at the University of Georgia who researches charitable giving.

Biden spokesman David Wade said the deductions on the tax forms ``are not the sum of their annual contributions to charity.'' The Bidens ``contribute to their church, and they also contribute to their favorite causes.'' He said the Bidens also do volunteer work with military families and for other causes.

Joe will have plenty of time to do charity work once he blows it for Barry and gets drilled out of the party for robbing the Lightworker of his date with destiny.

He was able to be so generous because he hits taxpayers up for $200 dollars or more a day to pay for his daily train ride back and forth to Delaware.

But we can’t even deduct the cost of travel back and forth to work.

Actually, I think Biden will probably be fine after Obama loses. The long knives will come out for Obama and his supporters, as the Clintons take over the party.

We gave three times more than that at least to charity and didn't declare it on our income taxes.

What a weasel.

Oh, whatever. It's just typical Joe Biden.

That’s pathetic. We’re Catholic just like Joe, haven’t made as much as him over the years, but my wife and I give more than that just to our parish — and many multiples of that to about 20-30 charities per year (grade schools, high schools, colleges, relief organizations, Freedom Alliance, Semper Fi fund, cancer research, downs support groups, etc.)

Oh man...I’m such an idiot. I forgot that Joe has given millions — make that billions — to the poor and needy of our country.

The four children of a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary took their parents out to dinner. The oldest stood up and gave a short speech about how he wanted to give his parents a car, but times were tough so he presented them with a gift certificate to a restaurant. The next eldest gave much the same speech, with the same gift. The other two did the same.

The father than said, "I think there's something you kids need to know. Your mom and I got married without the requisite marriage license because my unit was being shipped to Korea."

The kids looked at each other. The brightest one of them then gasp, "You mean, we're ...?" but wasn't able to mouth the word "bastards".

The father nodded, "Yup. And cheap ones too!"

Biden is releasing his last 10 tax returns as a ploy to force Palin to do the same so that can continue to milk that lame “per diem” story should there be any discrepancies. They think they can get away with it because Biden likes to brag that he is one of the poorest guys in the Senate (a testament to the fact that you don’t need cash when MBNA and the trial lawyers are comping every meal). Guess they forgot about this.

In 2005 Dick Cheney donated $6.9 million to charity.

Three days before he took the oath for Vice President, Cheney donated $7.8 million to charity, his entire Halburton holdings. Cheney received no income tax deduction for that donation

He can’t claim the charitable donations he makes from public coffers from his personal income taxes. Rest assured, however, that’s a bill to be unveiled in a future session of Congress, to be sure.

BTW, did you know Kerry was in Vietnam?

I did. I have a photo on the wall from when that dope went to the Senate in ‘04 to cast some anti-gun vote. It’s the shot of Kerry with Schumer, Feinstein and Teddy Kennedy. There’s a ballon from Kerry’s mouth, and he’s saying “Did I ever tell you I was in Vietnam? I was a war hero over there in Vietnam. In Vietnam, I carried a gun, but I don’t think regular people need guns because they’re not in Vietnam being war heroes. I don’t need a gun now, because I’m not in Vietnam being a war hero anymore, but I was, once. In Vietnam, I once pulled a guy out of a river. Oh,...sorry, Ted.”

Why would Plugs declared minimal charity expenses if he made bigger contributions elsewhere that he didn’t claim?

For a lot of people, church donations are big enough and easy enough to document, so if anything charitable was on your tax return it would be that, yet no so for Joe.

Hey Plugs, you’re a liar.
