The Dark Side of the Moon LP is one of my most cherished albums of all time. I listened to it so much back then I almost wore the grooves out.

RIP.

When I was in the Marines, my roomate had one of those alarm clocks that let's you wake up with whatever was in the tape player at the time. He always set the alarm to "Time" from DSOTM. That's the song that starts with all those alarm bells. So everytime I hear that song, I am reminded of those days from Camp Pendleton.

When the compact discs started to replace LPs and cassettes back in the early 1980s, DSOTM was the very first compact disc I ever bought and I held on to that until the "gold" edition came out a few years later. All told, I probably purchased DSOTM seven times in my lifetime. Once as an LP, twice as a cassette, once as an 8-track, twice as a compact disc and once as a DVD (in which DSOTM was done in concert).

On MP3, I collect as many Pink Floyd cover versions as I can find and have managed to put together a complete DSOTM album comprised entirely of cover versions by other artists.
