ASTONISHING: Rep. Charlie Rangel Calls Palin 'Disabled'
CBS News ^ | 9/19/08 | Marcia Kramer

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Already under fire for his tax troubles, Manhattan Congressman Charles Rangel really put his foot in his mouth on Friday.

In a CBS 2 HD exclusive interview Rep. Rangel called Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin "disabled."

The question was simple. Why are the Democrats so afraid of Palin and her popularity.

The answer was astonishing.

"You got to be kind to the disabled," Rangel said.

That's right. The charman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee called Palin disabled -- even when CBS 2 HD called him on it.

CBS 2 HD: "You got to be kind to the disabled???"

Rangel: "She's disabled."

"There is no question about politically it's a nightmare to think that a person's foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live."

Republicans think Rangel's comments are insulting as well as shocking.

"Charlie Rangel's comments are clearly disgraceful," Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island, said. "This is just another liberal Democrat who can't accept an independent woman running for president."

King, who is co-chair of the McCain-Palin campaign in New York, watched Rangel's comments with CBS 2 HD. He was particularly upset because Palin's 4-month-old son, Trig, is disabled. He has Down's syndrome.

"We should be sensitive to her or any woman who has a child or family member who has any afflciiton at all," King said. "And so to use the word disabled in the conetxt of a female candidate for vice president who has a child who is disabled really is wrong. Charlie owes her and the entire disbale community and appology."

Advocates for the disabled are also upset.

((sot michael imperiale 135028) "It makes me feel as if he's trying to put her down, trying to say she's not good for the presidency or the vice presidency," Michael Imperiale said.

"A disabled president ran this country. He was didabled. His name was Roosevelt."

a spokesman for the McCain-Palin campaign also piled on, saying that this kind of rhetoric has no place in politics.

Here is a website created by someone who has worked with Sarah Palin on corruption in Alaska. It’s worth a look for some reference material.

http://www.palinfightscorruption.com/palin/

[snip]Sarah’s entry onto the scene was out-of-the box, to put it mildly. She displaced former U.S. Senator Frank Murkowski from the Governor’s mansion and immediately set out to reverse years of preferential oil company policies. She rejected the oil companies’ gas pipeline plan in favor of an open, competitive process that resulted in the first concrete steps to significant gas production in Alaska. When one of the oil companies failed to develop a gas and oil lease that it had held for decades, she began forfeiture proceedings against it.

But more importantly, she wanted to clean up politics in Alaska. With total disregard for her own political future, she boldly took on her own party, holding it accountable for its ties to an oil contracting company that has since been connected with the bribery of several Alaskan legislators. This angered the state GOP leadership and long-time party activists who benefited from significant campaign contributions from oil.

As recently as this past spring, during the Alaska GOP state convention, she asked GOP delegates to turn their back on corruption and choose new party leadership independent of oil lobbyists. But using blatantly illegal parliamentary tactics, and creating an exodus of disgruntled delegates in the process, the party avoided that change by the thinnest of margins.

Frankly, that explains the current intrastate campaign against the governor. When the Alaska state senate president attacks Sarah for lack of experience, one need only investigate that GOP senator’s deep and unseemly connections to the oil industry. Even on the other side of the aisle, internal attacks are explained by connections to oil or, in the case of the legislator purporting to investigate her for ethical lapses, gubernatorial aspirations.

So what about the people who know her, her constituents? Unlike the disgruntled political adversaries and oil company lobbyists, real Alaskans from all political stripes endorse her with a resounding 80% approval rating, the highest of any governor nationwide. Why? Because they know she’ll never sell out. Pundits concerned about her advancement to the Oval Office should take some comfort in that.

What is going on with the America I grew up watching?

America is being destroyed by the inside....

Just like Israel...Although Israel is a few years advanced into its own destruction, Americans should take note, you are following in Israels foot steps, its time to give the muslim guy running for president the royal boot.

This crook should be in jail. Two months to go, and we haven’t seen low, yet. By the time this is over, the Dems won’t be able to reach high enough to touch bottom.

The more the likes of Rangel and the elite, leftists liberal indivudals and organizations (like the MSM, DNC, NOW, etc.) treat her this way, the more her fame and affinity with the rest of America will grow...to the point of burying them in a political landslide that has skirt tails reaching well into congress IMHO.

Let them keep at it.

Last week it was Charlie Gibson, this week it’s Charlie Rangel. As a lifelong Charlie myself, I will be seeking these guys’ ouster from the honorable and venerable League of Charlies.

Only good thing about Rangel is he’s old, fat and is a heart attack waiting to happen. No tears will be shed here.

It is a shame that 80% of the populace is ignorant to the pure vermin running Washington and particularly the Democratic party.

Charley is mentally “challenged” by the way. Not disabled, rather a government school trained drone.

In turn, I would say of Rangel,, he has become ‘enfeebled’ of mind by age.

Charlie , do us all a favor.

Take the high road and just retire.
