This is your nation on white privilege (ultra-hateful Obama supporter -- be warned)
Redroom ^ | 9/13/08 | Wise

For those who still can’t grasp the concept of white privilege, or who are looking for some easy-to-understand examples of it, perhaps this list will help.

White privilege is when you can get pregnant at seventeen like Bristol Palin and everyone is quick to insist that your life and that of your family is a personal matter, and that no one has a right to judge you or your parents, because “every family has challenges,” even as black and Latino families with similar “challenges” are regularly typified as irresponsible, pathological and arbiters of social decay.

White privilege is when you can call yourself a “******’ redneck,” like Bristol Palin’s boyfriend does, and talk about how if anyone messes with you, you'll “kick their ******' ass,” and talk about how you like to “shoot ****” for fun, and still be viewed as a responsible, all-American boy (and a great son-in-law to be) rather than a thug.

White privilege is when you can attend four different colleges in six years like Sarah Palin did (one of which you basically failed out of, then returned to after making up some coursework at a community college), and no one questions your intelligence or commitment to achievement, whereas a person of color who did this would be viewed as unfit for college, and probably someone who only got in in the first place because of affirmative action.

White privilege is when you can claim that being mayor of a town smaller than most medium-sized colleges, and then Governor of a state with about the same number of people as the lower fifth of the island of Manhattan, makes you ready to potentially be president, and people don’t all piss on themselves with laughter...

It's difficult to know where to begin in analyzing this poison. Tim Wise is, sadly, typical of Obama supporters.

Quite typical. They play the race card constantly—and it won’t stop

All voters in swing states need to read this and understand that most of Obama’s supporters feel this way.

Yuck. And Yuck. Goes to show you how miserable are "progressives." Angry and miserable.

Sounds like flunkouts from some junior college "gender and identity" class.

“quick to insist that your life and that of your family is a personal matter”

As long as one is not bilking the taxpayers, it should be a personal matter. If they are sucking the government dry, then it is a public(taxpayer) matter.

Sounds like his definition of white privilege is simply “having the benefit of the doubt from other white people.” But it is typical of any group to give their own members more leeway than “others.” You can only eradicate it by making white people hate whiteness (which seems to be the goal, as whiteness has become the new academic codeword for capitalism.)

As opposed to attending Harvard, Columbia, Stanford and Princeton for essentially nothing? Where's the transcripts Obama?

Your Whiteness is Showing:
An Open Letter to Certain White Women
Who are Threatening to Withhold Support From Barack Obama in November

By Tim Wise

June 5, 2008

This is an open letter to those white women who, despite their proclamations of progressivism, and supposedly because of their commitment to feminism, are threatening to withhold support from Barack Obama in November. You know who you are.

I know that it’s probably a bad time for this. Your disappointment at the electoral defeat of Senator Hillary Clinton is fresh, the sting is new, and the anger that animates many of you—who rightly point out that the media was often sexist in its treatment of the Senator—is raw, pure and justified.

That said, and despite the awkward timing, I need to ask you a few questions, and I hope you will take them in the spirit of solidarity with which they are genuinely intended. But before the questions, a statement if you don’t mind, or indeed, even if (as I suspect), you will mind it quite a bit.

First, for those of you threatening to actually vote for John McCain and to oppose Senator Obama, or to stay home in November and thereby increase the likelihood of McCain winning and Obama losing (despite the fact that the latter’s policy platform is virtually identical to Clinton’s while the former’s clearly is not), all the while claiming to be standing up for women...

For those threatening to vote for John McCain or to stay home and increase the odds of his winning (despite the fact that he once called his wife the c-word in public and is a staunch opponent of reproductive freedom and gender equity initiatives, such as comparable worth legislation), all the while claiming to be standing up for women...

For those threatening to vote for John McCain or to stay home and help ensure Barack Obama’s defeat, as a way to protest what you call Obama’s sexism (examples of which you seem to have difficulty coming up with), all the while claiming to be standing up for women...

Your whiteness is showing.

Simple explanation, it's cheap advertising for his "diversity" business:

http://www.redroom.com/author/tim-wise/bio

Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and activists in the U.S., and has been called, "One of the most brilliant, articulate and courageous critics of white privilege in the nation," by best-selling author and professor Michael Eric Dyson, of Georgetown University. Wise has spoken in 48 states, and on over 400 college campuses, including Harvard, Stanford, and the Law Schools at Yale and Columbia, and has spoken to community groups around the nation.

Wise is the author of White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, and Affirmative Action: Racial Preference in Black and White. He has contributed essays to seventeen books, and is one of several persons featured in White Men Challenging Racism: Thirty-Five Personal Stories, from Duke University Press. A collection of his essays, Speaking Treason Fluently: Anti-Racist Reflections From an Angry White Male, will be released in fall 2008. He received the 2001 British Diversity Award for best feature essay on race issues, and his writings have appeared in dozens of popular, professional and scholarly journals.

Wise has provided anti-racism training to teachers nationwide, and has conducted trainings with physicians and medical industry professionals on how to combat racial inequities in health care. He has also trained corporate, government, entertainment, military and law enforcement officials on methods for dismantling racism in their institutions, and has served as a consultant for plaintiff's attorneys in federal discrimination cases in New York and Washington State.

This is probably what BHO has in mind when he wants to pay people to do "community service."

You know you're really dealing with a acidic black racist when they start using a term like “white privilege.”

1. This matter has been the talk of the media almost inceasantly since it was first revealed.
  a. the media made a lot out of the fact that a Conservative's daughter was pregnant
  b. the media made a lot out of the fact that she was unwed
  c. the media made a lot out of the fact that she was going to carry the child to term
  d. the media made a lot out of the assertion that Sarah Palin forced the daughter to have the baby
  e. some liberals actually made the case that the child should be aborted
  f. some liberals made the case that the parents were forcing the daughter into a marriage, doomed from the start

2.  Nobody has defended the daughter for not using better judgement, and getting pregnant.

3.  The conclusiong they have come to, is that the daughter seems to be trying to handle this situation with as much grace as possible.
  a. she is going to carry the baby to full term
  b. she is going to marry the father, at least that is the plan now
  c. she is continuing on with her education
  d. she has been respectful of her parents as far as we know, after the fact

Frankly, if Black kids conducted themselves like this after the female got pregnant before marriage, I would be quite supportive.

This is not the best model for successful marriage and child bearing.  It is the best that can be hoped for if poor judgement results in this situation.

And if Blacks think they have more pressure than Sarah Palin's daughter does here, I think they are nuts.

Perhaps the main reason why they might have a tough time would be that they didn't have a good two parent home that was stable.

I liked:
White privilege is being able to be a gun enthusiast and not make people immediately scared of you.
Ah, so all those black Uzi-toting gang-members are only gun enthusiasts? Thanks for clearing that up! How foolish of us to be scared of them!
