Rasmussen 9/26/08: Obama 50% McCain 45%
Rasmussen Daily Tracking ^

Posted on 09/26/2008 6:29:14 AM PDT by CatOwner

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Barack Obama attracting 50% of the vote while John McCain earns 45%. This is Obama’s biggest lead since his convention bounce peaked with a six-point advantage. In fact, on only two days since clinching the Democratic nomination in early June has Obama enjoyed a lead bigger than he has today.

Ouch is right! But Rasmusssen polls at Dems 39% and Reps 33%. The 2004 presidential election had a turnout of Dems 37% and Reps 37%.

Ah, so NOW Gallup has it even, battleground has McCain ahead and Ras has Obama surging. I give up, there is like NO correlation between these polls at all now.

As more people make up their minds, they are breaking for Obama.

Thanks to the endless media barrage against McCain/Palin, and especially against Palin.

The people are, apparently, more easily duped this election cycle than last.

Let us not forget what God said to Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:17.

Obama would have had to get an absolutely HUGE day yesterday. Of course, early on the news was all reporting the Obama talking point that John McCain is trying to bring down the financial system.

I find this highly dubious. There is another angle no one is talking about. McCain is running an anti-media campaign. Conservatives are more irate at the media establishment now than they have ever been. Hang-up rates for conservative Republicans on these polls simply must be outpacing liberal Democrats by a huge margin making the polls unreliable.

Well, just looking for trends, this one is going the opposite way of all of the others, so I’d be more inclined to see this poll as an outlier anyway.

Plus, we know that Ras has gone insane with his weighting. His state polls are out of whack with everyone else too.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in Indy I'm seeing 5 Obama ads to each McCain ad. One of the ads shows a lady saying she was paid 40% less than men doing the same work. If Obama ever read the research on wage differentials (e.g., work by Herb Parnes, Belton Fleisher, and others) he would understand why they exist. The GOP could also turn that ad around and point to Dems who supported the same bill they say McCain supported. Similar ads could be put out by the GOP. What I'm hoping I'm seeing is a relative few ads now, storing up for an avalanche of ads in the two weeks before the election.

This is not good news at all. Damn.

Let's hope McCain does well in the debate. If not, it's hello socialism.

Card Check

Nationalized Health Care

Higher taxes

Higher electricity prices

But hey, if Obama does everything he wants (and the Senate and house will go along, I'm sure), that'll at least solve the immigration crisis we're having. After our economy tanks, a lot of immigrants may decide they'll just go back to Mexico or Guatemala or wherever they came from.

The initial reaction over this economic summit stuff and McCain possibly skipping the debate was decidely pro-Obama. Most of the average voters who don’t go to FR or other blogs didn’t see an OODA loop or any complicated strategery on McCain’s part, they just kneejerk react to Obama wanting to debate and McCain not. McCain may have even expected that and is hoping the endgame to this situation turns things around.

Is ras behind the others? That would make sense. The other polls several days ago looked bad for McCain but have shown him taking the lead. Perhaps this Obama surge is the same one the other polls had in previous days.

I had a problem with McCain talking about not going to the debate, I had a feeling this wasn’t good. It reminds me of the debate he had with Bush back in 2000, remember the TV on the chair? With Bush at the debate by himself? It wasn’t a good visual. It seems that it was all down hill from there. I just really hope that McCain knocks it off. He is not president yet, he needs to show up for the debate.

JMO, you three above have a lot of money in Wall Street and want to be bailed out. Maybe Rasmussen is also highly leveraged and thus cooking the polls, since his is the only one showing this trend that would be bad for McCain current stance.

I'm pretty sure that Scott Rasmussen doesn't do drugs. Whatever his computer comes up with, he reports.

Gallup has it even, Battleground McCain +2, and Zogby has it McCain +2.

If the election were held today ... it would be November, but it's not.

Possibly, just possibly the financial chaos on Wall Street and Congress's and the White House ineffectiveness have something to do with the Rasmussen numbers. If this thing works out, McCain should be OK. If it doesn't...

I have no idea why, but Rasmussen is always a few days behind Gallup. When McCain had a bounce after his convention, it happened on Gallup first, then showed up a few days later on Ras. Now Ras is showing the bounce Obama had this past weekend on Gallup. He’s also showing some absurd state polls (Obama leading in NC).

The Obambi bounce has faded on Gallup, so it’ll fade on Ras, too.

BTW, has Rassmussen posted a poll showing the opposition to the bailout, no.

Again, my opinion Rassmussen is cooking the books to save his finacial ass.
