Man, don’t they get any Errol Flynn/Turner Classic Movies on DVD? They need to load a ship of soldiers and kill them all.

I only have three comments about this ongoing situation.
1) Even though I'm retired Army, we need to station a decoy ship out there with a Marine crew and when they try to hijack the ship, blow it out of the water.
2) Did anyone else notice the name of the person negotiating for the pirates? Does it seem to me he wears his diaper on the wrong part of his anatomy??
3) Is this a new or fairly new way for terrorists to get supplies for their groups??

I was thinking the same thing. If the danger is known, why are any ships in the area NOT armed?

It's not a new situation. Piracy has never gone away, and the area near Somali is always risky.
If it's a way to get supplies to terrorists, that's probably just finding a buyer for the stolen goods. Numerous African governments and groups would be willing to pick up seized military equipment. Taking prisoners is meant to discourage anyone's Navy from wiping out the pirates.

Swift and decisive revenge would make for a good movie.

International law. They have certain legal protections and privileges as merchant ships.
Arming them makes them warships, and subject to a whole set of vulnerabilities that a warship ‘going into harms way’ takes for granted.
