Government accounting does not count assets which is why we are told only of the National “debt” but not the National Assets. Hence, there is an incorrect view of the debt as well as deficits. Those deficits actually purchase billions in assets but you would never know it.

I don’t want the government to hold the paper since it will be used as an excuse to spend more. Give it to the People if it is created.

I do not see this as a big negative for the GOP in spite of the media telling us it is. Almost everything it says is a lie and the people have no more confidence in its statements that they do of Congress.

Your optimism about the good this bailout will do and the cost of it is not shared by me or the majority of the People which is why it was not passed. There has been no emergency here so any solution needs to be well considered and not done when the RATS have every chance to lard this bill up with all manner of crap. And there is no reason that 5% of the mortgage market should need 700 billion to work it out. And that cost will be far greater than any farm bill.

“I do not see this as a big negative for the GOP in spite of the media telling us it is. “

Prior to the current ‘crisis’, McCain was ahead.
Then the stock market volatility and bankruptcy/takeovers of near-insolvent banks (WaMu, Wachovia) and AIG/Lehman, dominated news along with bailout bill for 2 weeks. McCain is behind.

And whats worse is that this is one of those elite/populist political splits, where the ‘responsible’ McCain, should he vote ‘aye’, will be with Bush and on the opposite side of conservative House members who are with the popular sentiment against it. the Dems groom Obama to look ‘above the fray’ (code-word for he’s voting present on the whole shebang).

Oh, and it focuses on the economy, where Obama wants the focus.

McCain had an even chance prior, now he is definite underdog. I dont think you could have scripted a more difficult situation for McCain than this.

Just saying.

McCain’s lead in national polls had evaporated before this hit and he is down four in Gallup now. State polls are still in his favor in the battleground as well.

One cannot believe the media will tell you the truth. It lies about everything including this financial umbiglio. Every fact is reviewed and publicized only if it will hurt the GOP otherwise it is completely suppressed. Look at the debate. McCain wiped the floor with Zero hammering him with specifics, experiences, examples of his naivity. Yet we are told that Obama won. We were told that the bailout/ripoff had passed several times yet it still is hanging out there.

I’m thinking of the principles of Sun-Tse.

Apparently we live in one America and the Obamedia live in another America.
It boggles my mind how Obama got schooled, was wrong on point after point, and still was declared winner.

I think McCain is coming back a bit because the people are seeing that only the Republicans are REALLY looking out for the taxpayers.

This is old hat. Always remember “All lies, all the time.”
Even a comet hit would be blamed on the GOP. Remember Katrina but the people of Lousiana knew who was at fault and replaced Blanco.
