Too late to elect Newt Gingrich?

Posted on 09/29/2008 7:18:53 PM PDT by NoobRep

Gingrich's four-point plan includes: (1) suspending immediately mark to market provisions (the accounting practice of valuing a financial position in an investment at its current market price) in the hopes of stopping the downward spiral in asset values and eventually replacing it with a three year rolling average; (2) repealing immediately Sarbanes-Oxley, the 2002 accounting law Gingrich described as "an enormous drag on small business"; (3) setting the capital gains tax rate at zero "matching the Chinese and Singapore" (to encourage private capital to flood into the market picking up properties without the taxpayers being at risk); and (4) passing an "extraordinarily powerful" energy bill ("to return $500 billion a year to the American economy that are currently going overseas").

You must be mistaken ... according to many here, you must discount everything Newt has to say because he didn’t act perfectly in his marriages. Nevermind that he may be one of the smartest people in the room.

Reading his latest rant it pretty obvious Newt has premature Alzheimer's. Sorry not interested in another blow-hard know nothing has been politician.

Newt is an thinktank all his own. He always has been.
Unfortunately he balked at getting in to the Republican race.

An idea man is what the GOP and the country desperately needs right now.

Wow! Newt needs to be on camera non-stop for the GOP and McCain.

The mark-market change sounds fantastic!

Didn’t Newt say that the SEC chair could suspend mark to market tomorrow if he wanted to...it requires no vote, right?

He one of the smartest person in the room, maybe 20% of the time. On Katerina, Iraq and just about any other major policy issue in the last 8 years he has been dead wrong.

But other then that, yeah, he is the smartest know nothing around.

Dude c’mon. How many of these myopic Gingrich-for-Prez threads we have to endure? HE IS NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL. He is a helluva advisor, policy wonk, strategist, operative etc. but NOT presidential material.

Does anyone have the number to the SEC? Perhaps a flood of phone calls will help Christopher Cox to suspect the mark-to-market ratio.

And then we should also flood the switchboard at the White House with calls for Paulson’s ouster, as well!

We need to take this momentum of righteous anger on the part of the American public and put it to continued good use to clean up this corruption in government!

And don’t even get me started on this AIG/Goldman Sachs scandal!

Do you mean the one who shook BJ Clinton's hand and
allowed BJ Clinton to take credit for welfare reform?

Do you mean the one that folded on the budget shutdown?

He does make sense on most things but he will crater to
pressure.
