Video:McCain and Palin Together Confront Couric on "Gotcha" Journalism
Blogs for John McCain ^ | Sept 29, 2008 | Nelsa

Here is a snipet of video from Katie Couric's interview with both John McCain and Sarah Palin. McCain lets Palin speak for herself for the most part. Katie is trying to highlight what she thinks is a Palin gaffe regarding Pakistan, but as Palin explains, "Never would OUR administration get out there and show are cards..."(in regard to incursions in to Pakistan)

That statement is in line with what McCain has said regarding Pakistan and whether or not we would cross it's borders to persue terrorist. The fact is we have already done so if you believe the stories about our Predator Drones taking out Al Qaeda in Pakistan.

Those pics say it all. If Katie could have gotten it past the censors during the Obama interview, all you would have seen of her would have been the top of her head.

We are asking the McCain Camp to fight back and it seems they are trying.

You don't fight back by saying, "Stop picking on my vice president!" If Palin is going to succeed at this level then she's going to have to recognize questions like this for what they are and deal with them effectively on the fly.

they need to go to some town in “fly over country” and give their interview to the local TV as a slap to the MSM

COURIC: We were at her home in Chappaqua, New York, on Super Tuesday as she sat through 57 satellite interviews with reporters from across the country, repeatedly stressing her readiness to be President.
CLIPS OF CLINTON: On day one. On day one. On day one.
CLINTON: It's exhausting.
COURIC TO CLINTON: How do you do it? I mean, the satellite interviews, the speeches, the travel, the debates, the schmoozing, the picture taking, 24/7?”
CLINTON: I do it because I really believe in what I'm doing.
COURIC: I knew you were gonna say that.
CLINTON: Well, but it's true.
COURIC, GIGGLING: But I'm talking about pure stamina.
CLINTON: Well, pure stamina. I have a lot of stamina and I have a lot of resilience.
COURIC: Having said that, do you pop vitamins, do you mainline coffee?
CLINTON: I take vitamins. I drink tea, not coffee anymore. I have really stopped drinking diet drinks because I found that they gave you a jolt, but they weren't good over the long run. I used to drink a lot of them. I drink tons of water. Just as much water as I can possibly drink. You know, my two secrets to staying healthy: wash your hands all the time. And, if you can't, use Purell or one of the sanitizers. And the other is hot peppers. I eat a lot of hot peppers. I for some reason started doing that in 1992, and I swear by it.
COURIC: Her staff is as sleep deprived as she is, many of them longtime loyal Clintonites, with a war room similar to Bill Clinton's in the 1990s....

Portion of story taped around an event at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington County, Virginia, where Couric grew up and her parents still live, though she attended a different high school:

COURIC: What were you like in high school? Were you the girl in the front row taking meticulous notes and always raising your hand?
CLINTON: Not always raising my hand, not only raising my hand.
COURIC: Someone told me your nickname in school was Miss Frigidaire. Is that true?
CLINTON: Only with some boys. [laughs]
COURIC, GIGGLING: I don't know if I want to hear the back story on that!
CLINTON: Well, you wouldn't want to know the boys either. [bursts out laughing]

At our mommy group this morning we agreed, she can either hold her own or she can’t- but this made her look weak to us.

First of all Palin isn't setting these things up, McCain's campaign is. Therefore if anyone looks weak it is them not Sarah. I agree that she should be turned loose and as I understand it McCain finally realized that and she will be turned loose at the debate on Thursday. Sarah hasn't changed, she is merely doing what the campaign is telling her to do.She should put her foot down and tell them to let her be Sarah or she will simply go back to Alaska.

Did you all have the same opinion when Obama and Biden appeared together on 60 Minutes?

"It looked like she brought her dad there to help out. I was appalled."

Please. You too sound no different than Katie Couric and every other fanatical liberal and acting no better than them with stupid, yes stupid foolish comments like you both posted.

It was smart to take McCain on with her. They are running as a team and not as individuals. It irked and pissed off Couric and exposed her more as the infantile liberal wench she is.

I usually LOVE the way Sarah dresses, but I don't like her outfit in this interview one bit. The collar is odd, making her look like a neckless turtle.

That would be fun to watch. Everywhere they go give small town TV stations the interviews.

I am sure McCain knew the MSM would go after Sarah, but who ever dreamed the evil extent they would try to destroy her.

What are you supposed to do in that situation. They destroy her if she does interview and destroy her if she doesn’t. She is taking it to the people by way of campaigning. If people haven’t made up their minds by now, there is probably little that will sway them. Sarah is who brought me on board with McCain and gave me hope.

So, Be Not Afraid.

Well, Well, I guess we’re not allowed to think on our own and post our own comments! I absolutely thought it made her appear weak and looked like her Daddy was there to protect her. I WANT TO SEE SARAH!! She is not weak but sometimes I can’t say the same for our Presidential Candidate.

You never bring someone else with you on an interview! Does the McCain campaign not trust her?

The joint interview had also been planned well before Palin’s initial interview with Couric - so it isn’t like McCain came in to “save the day”... but people won’t let facts get in the way of their kneejerk reactions.

If they were giving interviews only to small town TV stations, you wouldn’t be able to watch.

It looked like she brought her dad there to help out. I was appalled.

At our mommy group this morning we agreed, she can either hold her own or she can’t- but this made her look weak to us. You never bring someone else with you on an interview! Does the McCain campaign not trust her? What are they thinking? Why do they try to hide her and control her every move? The only way she will get better at these interviews is if they let her have them- by herself. Let her go!

YEESSSS!!!! OMG!!! And McCain wouldn't even let her SPEAK!!! The are so OVERHANDLING her, and it's making her (and in turn, the entire ticket) look worse every single day!

I thought it was especially stupid to cry "gotcha-journalism" as if Sarah can't handle a question from someone. It also makes them look too good to answer a question. Hey McCain! You work for US, and we vote for you. That's also not how to put the MSM in their place. Just LET HER SPEAK. She can handle a question from ANYONE! LET HER DO IT. And if she can't, then McCain's an idiot, and I'd like to know now.

I am dumbfounded about how they're acting lately. They're acting like the dems for fraksake! They're the ones that always whine, "Don't ask hard questions, you play too rough!! waaaaaaaaah!!!" WTF??? What's happened to all the FIGHT? A weak term like "gotcha-journalism"???? Really? THAT'S THE BEST YOU GOT???

It was ridiculous for them to even try to make this into an issue. OMG! She answered a question!!! THE SKY IS FALLING! I thought she did fine. Her answer was, "we'll do what's necessary to handle the terrorists." I'm sorry, but that was a good answer. What was wrong with it???

If they keep overreacting like this, then we're in deep trouble folks.
