In Fla., Palin Goes for the Rough Stuff as Audience Boos Obama

"I was reading my copy of the New York Times the other day," she said.

"Booooo!" replied the crowd.

"I knew you guys would react that way, okay," she continued. "So I was reading the New York Times and I was really interested to read about Barack's friends from Chicago."

It was time to revive the allegation, made over the weekend, that Obama "pals around" with terrorists, in this case Bill Ayers, late of the Weather Underground. Many independent observers say Palin's allegations are a stretch; Obama served on a Chicago charitable board with Ayers, now an education professor, and has condemned his past activities.

"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.

"Boooo!" said the crowd.

"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.

"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Palin went on to say that "Obama held one of the first meetings of his political career in Bill Ayers's living room, and they've worked together on various projects in Chicago." Here, Palin began to connect the dots. "These are the same guys who think that patriotism is paying higher taxes -- remember that's what Joe Biden had said. And" -- she paused and sighed -- "I am just so fearful that this is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America, as the greatest force for good in the world. I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as 'imperfect enough' to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country."

"Boooo!" said the audience.

I wonder if talking about it now by the McCain camp is too little too late?

No. November 5th is too late. People don't have to settle on an opinion until they actually vote.

This is the hoary Soviet Pravda everybody knows technique, in which that which Pravda wanted to be true was described as "Everybody knows that..."

The “writer” at the Washington Compost!

I wish we could stop slandering compost around here - it's far more useful than the WaPo.

“...but I can’t find the actual real time quote from 0 himself actually condemning Ayers.”

There a video showing Nobama condemning Ayers’ previous acts, but not condemning the man himself. It happened during a debate with Hillary, I believe.

Probably one of the other reporters in the crowd, just so the guy could put it in the article.

Yep, what was Tom Brokaw doing at that rally?

I just read through McCain's remarks to be given today in New Mexico. I have a feeling the media are going to slow down the criticism of Palin as they start to wail in agony at the ol' fighter pilot's punches. :-)

(And that's right, all you handwringers. McCain's not in VA, NC, OH or even CO. He's in NM. Take the hint.)

Thanks for bringing to attention. Love this one:

“Let the children come to me; do not stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mk 10:14).

Thanks so much for posting the pictures from the Clearwater Sarah event of yesterday! If you look at the Florida Victory sign at the top and the yellow state of FL, come down a tiny bit and see a lady in a large brim hat. She is in the first red stripe at the top. Then follow straight down from her to the second white stripe from the top. There you will see an elderly man in a white shirt and blue McCain/Palin hat. That is my hubby and I am to his right, also with a blue McCain/Palin hat. Easy to see, as we are the only ones in that area with blue hats on. :) I will try to copy paste your picture and get a copy made at Walgreens if I can. Thanks for posting all your great pictures! Wish we two Freepers could have met! :)
