PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

Obama agrees with McCain that we’re a force for good in the world. But there’s a ‘but’. Obama says we’re a declining economic power.

Obammi—once again not answering the question.

McCain has been right on military issues—Obammi has been trying to cut off support to the troops.

Zerobama—worrying about ten billion dollars a month when he just voted to give Wall Street a bailout equal to seven years of the Iraq War.

A small mind is a terrible thing to waste......

Yeah, but I think McCain has turned off fewer people than Obama.

I think McCain just lost the election.

Why do I get the feeling you've said this before with much less cause than Brokaw's trap questions?

So, Obama doesn’t speak to financial constraints on war...just that we’re only constrained by a “bad reputation” abroad.

You’ve got it right, and getting beyond the close employer/tax-exempt health plan coupling, which of course was created by government meddling, is a key step in making market forces work.

Unfortunately the sheeplike masses buy into the “healthcare is a right’ mantra. How can we combat that?

Ask them about healthcare for pregnant women ... then point out that it is health care for the baby as well??

Clash of liberal talking points maybe.

Yes, and there are plenty of Obama soundbites from tonight that should show up in Republican ads in the coming days.

Oh yes Obama, you care for our troops, it’s expensive and the surge didn’t work... but you want to do the same in Afghanistan. He’s hating on Iraqi money and wants to take it. Socialist to the bone.

Never in history has a country had a economic decline and keep it’s military superiority.

No he friggin didn’t say that.

This would be a good point for McCain to come out and bash Bush a little to turn this constant Bush-linking against Noobama.

What loss of respect? That line is so old. It is only the global leftists who claim a loss of respect for America.

McCain: "...in his short career...and there's no time for on-the-job training."

That sure tweaked Obama. He's now visibly *upset* in how he's answering the foreign policy question.

McCain is getting strong here talking about the good of this country.

“This is the WORST Presidential debate I have ever watched! BOTH SIDES!”

A number of pundits are live blogging the same sentiment.
