“There is no debate on tonight. The format precludes that. This is dueling talking points. Nothing more, nothing less. The two can’t really engage each other.”

Honestly, its a better debate than other previous painful experiences. But so many issues were not covered.

Barack was unfortunately more smooth and is pretending to be less liberal than he really is, and key issues like life/abortion and marriage are not raised. It’s mostly about how much the Government will bail us out in many ways. You can’t outcompete a Democrat when its all about gimme-the-money.

I dont think the dynamic of the race changed. McCain made the right case as best he could:
“We need a steady hand at the tiller and I always put my country first.”

Didn’t we stop Saddam’s genocide in Iraq?

You're right there was no debate.

But in all fairness, Brokaw chose the questions and probably re-phrased most of them. It would have been better to just let people ask their own questions.

If this election is in the hands of those that are “undecided”, then we are all in trouble. That mean this country is being ruled by idiots that have no clue as to what is going on and to what is needed to correct the problem. Sad.

"Didn’t we stop Saddam’s genocide in Iraq?" Oh, don't keep trying to change the subject.

I saw/heard audience members asking (reading) what one supposes were their own questions.

It was revealed before the debate, that the questions were "chosen" by Brokaw. Several of the participates did not have a clue as to what their question meant.

Townhall formats are generally very revealing of the core values of candidates. If Brokaw would have kept his nose out of it, we could have learned some interesting info. BUT NOoooooooo, we had to listen to boring crap that we've all heard over and over. I don't get it, let the American people ask questions!

Well what about the Carvile point that perhaps if Obama loses, there will be black riots? So what is the betting line on riots? Or, what about how many states will ACORN steal for the Dems?
