WASHINGTONEsquire is backing Democrat Barack Obama for president -- its first endorsement in the magazine's 75-year history.
The Illinois senator is "the only possible choice to lead the country," editors wrote in the November issue, on newsstands Oct. 14. They also encouraged people to vote for Obama because the next president will influence the direction of the Supreme Court.
"The best argument for the election of Barack Obama as president of the United States is written quite clearly in the peaks and squiggles of John Paul Stevens' EKG," they wrote of the 88-year-old justice.
Republican presidential nominee John McCain has run a "cheap and dishonorable campaign," they said. And his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is "stunningly unqualified."

You too?!
Me too also.
You’re right and I have complained and protested upfront to the managers there.
Everytime I go to Costco or other book stores I’m constantly covering up the lefty trash and lies with other books and magazines. I know it’s probably juvenile and pointless, but I just can not stand the leftist bias and cultural warfare everywhere..
The left is working 24/7 to destroy this country and freedom everywhere.
Further proof the Democratic party attracts immoral dregs....no decent people to be found amongst the baby-killers and civil union proponents.
Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.
I used to be a regular reader for about 20 years...up to the late 80s. The magazine kind of went over the edge. It used to be a really good magazine for new writers and pretty good fashion stuff for those who cared. Then t became a rag and has gotten worse over the past 20 years from what I see on the newsstands. This may be their first endorsement, but the magazine has been obviously liberal for decades.
I’ve always had good luck with booksamillion on line until now.
I got Obamanation and several others pretty quick but
Sarah’s book is still to come. Ordered right after it came out.
Said they would send it as soon as they printed the next batch.
Right. I may just drop it and go elsewhere.
it’s no longer ‘somewhat’. Gay guys in big cities all over America know it has already stopped being even a quasi-straight mens mag.
My very favorite cookbook was printed in ‘49 - published earier - Esquire’s Handbook for Hosts. They had snark going on even back then. The recipe commentary is exactly the same tone as the writers use now.
Only perused the mag a couple times as I’m not a gay male.
Wow, I’m shocked! They had to remove their nose from George Clooney’s ass first.
Well, they’re about to lose all their ammo and bass fishing advertisers. And you won’t be able to find the mag in logger and biker bars anymore. Dang.
A few years ago they came out with a series of books called "What Every Young Man Needs to Know About..." They were actully pretty entertaining.
