Texas, ditto those hurricanes. Why I was just on Mustang Island this weekend, trash still coming in from Ike, and the water was cold surf barely got into the 80 degree range and no fish. I caught them all.

I think the smartass is just a yankee attitude in general. My stepfather is from Northern New York, so I am used to it and it doesn’t bother me. Matter of fact, I just jab back and end up becoming friends. Although I have had to convince them that they aren’t as smart as they think. I don’t appreciate people who can’t stand to live in the states like New Jersey after they so willingly voted to trash it for decades. The corrupt policies and politicians brought them what they wanted, and they should live with it.

Those from Massachusetts have all been running to New Hampshire to make a mess of our state.

I live in NJ. NJ is doomed. It will probably be the first state that actually goes bankrupt (well, maybe California). The pols have given away the store to civil servants with lavish retirement packages and those chickens are coming home to roost in the next 10 years or so. The hole is so large there is no possible way to fill it.

The only people moving out are the ones who actually have incomes, or the middle class elderly whose kids are already done with school and who don't put much burden on roads and other resources. You see the problem here? The people who are staying are the ones with little kids who cost $11-12k per year to educate in NJ, and the ones who don't have jobs. It's a recipe for disaster.

NJ is ensuring that entrepreneurs won't start new businesses here. They have a special penalty tax on anyone who makes more than $500,000. That means any successful S-corp would be stupid to start up or move into New Jersey, and any who can possibly move out will do so. All you have to do is hop over the border to PA and your taxes go down several percent if you are a successful small business.

Add in endless regulations that spiral out of control every year, and NJ has to be one the worst possible places to start or keep a business.

Anyway, NJ is indeed hopeless at this point. As soon as my youngest kid finishes high school I'm outta here. I own a clean internet based business and I can operate from any place on earth.

And I am far from the only one. Everyone I know who has a business that is not tied down geographically is making plans to leave this sinking ship. It's a good number right now but it will become a tidal wave in a few more years. I think NJ is already past the point of no return on this one.

Most businesses and industry have been chased away by the most unfriendly business climate in the country, so Evil Corporations are off the hook. Damn, we’re running out of places to point fingers, aren’t we?

I love New Jersey, especially here in the southern section, but were it possible to move, I would. There are hidden wonders throughout the state that the touristas and developers haven't found (and in that vein, I won't tell you). But that being said, the politicians and McMansion buyers from NY and PA have ruined the state.

The Garden State has seen farmland that once help feed the nation turned into suburban scablands by taxes. Near where I live, there were once pigfarms that thrived for over a hundred years, but new residents forced them out of business. Funny, they smelled before these people moved in, but these people were too stupid to know it. Don't even think about trying to run any kind of industry (even if you've been here forever). The NIMBYs and the liberal socialist they've been putting into office will kill your business plan (New Jersey is the least business friendly state).

But moving out of state may not really be an option. Delaware as recently as ten years ago might have been an option but uncontrolled developement there is going to cause huge problems in the near future. I can see the same problems for NC and SC. Look at Virginia. I was stationed at Quantico in the late sixties and the drive from there to DC was so beautiful, I thought I might like to live there someday. I could have never envisioned the nightmare the I-95 corridor from Richmond to DC has become.

I guess I'll live out my time here and with a little luck and Chris Christy's prosecutions of politicians it won't get alot worse. Who knows if a enough people leave and the dead people in North Jersey and Camden County lose the right to vote, it may actually improve here.
