Crush Their Spirits
National Review ^ | 10/14/08 | Markos Moulitsas

High Hopes [Byron York]

From a post entitled "Crush Their Spirits," by Markos Moulitsas:

I've been making the case the last couple of weeks that we can't just focus on winning in November, but that we have an imperative to take advantage of a historic opportunity to break the conservative movement's backs and crush their spirits. In the White House, that means getting Obama a broad popular and geographic mandate for change. In the House, that means annihilating the Republican caucus and working toward a 100-seat Democratic majority. In the Senate it means getting to a 60-seat filibuster proof majority.

Republicans will claim that McCain wasn't one of them, hence rationalizing away their loss. But if we decimate their ranks, including their conservative icons, it'll make it harder for them to justify their spin. Remember, we want them broken, their ranks thinned, their treasury in heavy debt, their morale in the gutter, void of any leadership, discredited in the eyes of the public.

Hence our need this year to take advantage of this perfect Democratic storm to not just win, but to utterly wipe the board clear of as many Republicans as we can catch in this wave.

A key component of this effort is to destroy their most beloved leaders. And in that sense, our Orange to Blue fundraising list targets some of the conservative movement's top leaders. Don't take my word for it, take that of conservative blogger/operative Patrick Ruffini, freaking out about the tsunami about to hit:

And while we all to some extent will continue to fixate on the Presidential race, we need to understand the very real consequences if the Senate is irredeemably lost, and if our bench in the House is wiped out. You may not know it, but conservative icons like John Shadegg (AZ-3) and Tom McClintock (CA-4) could lose.

Both AZ-03 and CA-04 are on our target list, with Bob Lord focused on taking out Shadegg, and Charlie Brown fighting McClintock.

There is a sudden realization on the right that they are on the precipice of losing not just their majorities, but some of their most cherished voices. We have been blessed with an opportunity to help that process along.

They're already expecting to lose. You want to see them truly crushed, you need to help (among so many others) Lord and Brown win their races.

Leave everything on the road.

Remember this post next time a Republican tells you we need more civility.

Remember this post next time McCain says we need to work together.

These people want to destroy us. They want a 1 party Soviet Union style rule.

If we don't stand up and fight, they will get their wish.

Those words by the Kos founder should terrify you.

Hey Markos,

Notice how Sarah Palin survived all your crap?

And she outdrew Biden 2-1 in Scranton, PA.

Nice try, though.

Cheers!

This ties in with the polls being crafted to over-estimate 0bama’s support. Do we really think Zero is lading McCain among white men, for instance, or among senior citizens, as some of these polls show?

Markos is one sick and totalitarian human being. And I’m being generous by calling him a human being.

They can smell it. They can taste it.

They will be the ones crushed if they lose the Presidency.

We talked the same thing in 2004. Bush and the Republican leadership screwed up and gave hope to the Democrats. In a few years people will want something else.

Was it worth ruining the economy to win an election with a complete fraud for a candidate?

I’m in western PA, which is supposed to be all Dem all the time. Even friends and some relatives who always vote Dem are not voting for the Messiah. I don’t think I know of anyone who is. Where the hell are they getting these crazy polling numbers?

Remember also this post next time a conservative tells you ‘my way or your way.’ As a result of it, we didn’t have a single conservative voice during the primaries.

Yes! That is precisely how the left thinks. If the economy is screwed up during the next few years-the purposed solutions will be more government control, more government ownership and so forth

So much for Candor, Intelligence, and Goodwill.

For at least 30 years conservatives have been left hanging with this bi-partisan nonsense.

As Rush says Conservatism wins every time it's tried.

These people want to destroy us.

And we should want to destroy them.

The Republican majority in 2005, under Bush, failed to completely DEFUND THE LEFT, root and branch. Its an opportunity that was missed and will be especially difficult to try at a later date.

Bush’s failure to act when a rogue prosecutor went after Delay robbed the Hill of conservatism’s strongest voice.

Well, we do have more guns and ammo than these sickos so I am not worrying about being crushed.

The problem is taxes and demographics. Almost a majority of the populace pay no taxes, I think around 44 per cent. When that number hits 51 percent,,,we are all cooked. They will bleed us dry.

But we do have firepower.

and how did they manage to wreck the economy...the “I’m taking my toys and going home” crowd that did not vote in the last election to “teach us a lesson” well the gutless spineless brainless people who refused to to do their civic duty and vote, gave us pelosi and reid, and they were able to orchestrate this pretend disaster...i hope and pray that every one of them lost a ton of money because of their own stupidity...

“Was it worth ruining the economy to win an election with a complete fraud for a candidate?”

An excellent question. To the left, the answer is not only a resounding “yes,” that answer would also be “of course that’s exactly what we want to happen, you dummy!”

You see, the left is not only out to crush the spirit of conservatives. They are out to crush the spirit of AMERICANS. They hate this nation so much, that they must destroy it. And in order to do so, they must crush the American Spirit, and relegate us all to the status of cowering serfs.

Just think about what they’ll do when they get the power of the gov’t behind them.

They truly DO want to put all their political opponents “to the wall”.

Don't forget the Panhandle!

All this lib talk of a tsunami is designed to suppress conservative turnout. Same with the polls.

The libs and MSM will do anything to win and they are not done with their tricks yet. Don't be fooled into not voting and campaigning for MP!

Hey, Kos:

Very, very many of us are Christians. Our Spirit is stronger than you can possibly imagine. Your hate weakens you. You have to cheat to win, as evidenced by ACORN's tactics and your side's lies, omissions and obfuscations. Your side can not stand on its own strengths, because it has precious few that are logical, true, natural, moral or productive. Your side's actions this campaign have awakened many Americans to the truths about you, and you will lose. This is still America.
