How many of you work for a POOR person???

If you work for a small business owner you actually may be working for a poor person.

Lots of closet commies in this country, huh?

The greedy, the envious, the jealous, the lazy, the resentful, the failures, the losers, the picked on, the misfits, the outcasts, the angry, the bitter, the perverse, the degenerate...all want to try to punish the happy, loving, well adjusted, productive, normal and successful.

Who is John Galt?

Oh yes, she thinks that taking money from the workers is going to give her something extra.

Next time she needs a plumber, an electrical contractor, let her think about that.

What an ignoramus.

I have also been trying to figure out if it’s net or gross. I think it’s probably net from talking with an accountant friend, but I still haven’t found anything definitive. If it was gross, every company with a large volume of business but small profit margins would be screwed. I’d really like to know this, though; I’ve been looking for a week and haven’t found anything.

I have seen that before, but I have asked this on FR before.

How many of you were ever offered a job by a poor person or a person on a government program?

What difference does it make. It’s his money, he earned it and he is entitled to keep it.

Meh. There seems to be a meme at play that if you have a “salt of the earth” type “regular good ol’ boy” sort of trade occupation, then you by definition are non-elitist, firmly middle class, need a break, etc.

Well, if you earn $250K, yeah, you’re well off. I don’t care what you do for a living, that’s a far sight more than most people earn (and certainly not average for plumbers around here). Median income in the country is nowhere near $250K.

Not that there’s anything WRONG earning a lot, mind, but this intentional conflating of the different shades of class difference and the “elitist” thing is just annoying. Identity politics FTW!

2%

Joe is among the 2% of small businesses that manage to make $250,000.

Joe, congrats. You’ve made it to the top TWO PERCENT of small businessess. STFU already.

Can we stop now and get to real Conservative topics?

Who is John Galt?

That question becomes more appropriate EVERY DAY!! The analogy with what is going on right now, and what is said by Hussein--is trying scary.

Wesley Mouch must be smiling big time.

Exactly my point. This is a non-issue since GROSS is never taxed for small businesses unless you’re doing something horribly wrong.

I’d really like to know this, though; I’ve been looking for a week and haven’t found anything.

It's all smoke and mirrors. You are looking for specifics when the whole business is nothing more than a fantasy.

When the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, we're all, every single one of us, going to get socked with a tax increase. Baracky Obammer is counting on it to pay for all his give-a-ways.

There is NO topic more conservative that big government confiscation of private property. I suggest you take your own advice and STFU. Have a nice day.

Overused question, the real question should be, Who is Dagny Taggart?

If we are talking net, I don’t see the issue.

The issue is the government deciding how much an individual is allowed to keep of their earnings. If you don't see a problem with raising taxes on people over 250k, then how do you feel about raising taxes on 150k, or maybe 75k.

Doesn't the person making over 250k already pay a hell of a lot more than the person making 50k? Do they use more government programs, drive on more roads, send more kids to school, require more police or schools? Exactly why should they pay more (OR LESS) than any other person?

A highly progressive income tax is nothing but a first step toward communism.

If you raise Joe’s taxes, he’ll just charge more for making a house call, new furnace, plumbing fixtures, etc. Plus he may lay somebody off, cut back on raises, etc.

I went to the 2008 tax tables.

Jane, assuming she made $50K this year, and had $15,000 in tax deductions, would have to pay about $5,000 in taxes.

Joe, on the other hand, if had grossed $250,000 and had $10,000 in tax deductions (because most deductions are phased out well before the $250K income level) would have to pay about $54,000 in taxes.

JOE IS PAYING HIS SHARE.
