Palin’s move not abrupt or shocking

On Saturday’s front page, The Associated Press’ Rachel D’Oro wrote “Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin abruptly announced Friday she is resigning from office at the end of the month, a shocking move that rattled the Republican party but left open the possibility that she would seek a run for the White House in 2012.” (emphasis mine).

Ms. D’Oro’s disdain for Gov. Palin is clear. How would D’Oro have Gov. Palin announce her decision so that it would not be abrupt? Maybe call D’Oro a week earlier to let her know the announcement was coming? A shocking move? Bold and daring maybe, but hardly shocking. I actually recovered from the shock of it all quite nicely so that it didn’t affect my celebration of the 4th one iota. I watched a little news over the weekend and I didn’t see one Republican official who was rattled. They all had a lot to say, but rattled - hardly.

Ms. D’Oro failed to report Palin’s explanation that I saw later in a snippet of her shocking announcement - that she didn’t want to take a salary as governor while she was campaigning, unlike our president and his rival McCain and many others who stayed in their office collecting taxpayer money for governing while they spent almost all their time campaigning. In fact, I think there are 2 Republican governors doing that now.

Please report the news on the front page and put biased commentary and selective reporting on the editorial page.

Texas for Sarah Palin ^ | Tuesday, July 21, 2009 | Josh Painter

Associated Press writer Rachel D’Oro, who has a history of writing negative pieces on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is out with another of her trademark smear jobs. The article is going out from the AP to thousands of news outlets around the world. Let’s take a look:

The report obtained by The Associated Press says Palin is securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through the Alaska Fund Trust, set up by supporters.
How did AP obtain the report? The copy of the report linked to (PDF) by the Anchorage Daily News has this warning stamped on it in big, bold, letters:
CONFIDENTIAL report regarding Ethics Complaint pursuant to Alaska Statute 39.52.340
