...Obama appears to possess the tools to confront our myriad and daunting problems. He's thoughtful and analytical. He has met his opponents' attacks with calm and reasoned responses. Viewers of the debates saw a poised, well-prepared plausible president with well-articulated positions on the bread-and-butter issues that poll after poll indicate are the true concerns of voters. While Arizona Sen. John McCain and his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have struck an increasingly personal and negative tone in their speeches, Obama has continued to talk about issues of substance.
It is true that Obama has served less than a term in the U.S. Senate and that his previous elective experience is confined to the Illinois Legislature. However, during that public service and his previous role as a community organizer on the streets of Chicago, he has developed an appreciation and understanding of the real-life concerns of middle- and low-income Americans.
On the Iraq war, Obama was an early voice of opposition to the initial invasion and his plan for a phased withdrawal of combat forces has been embraced by American and Iraqi policymakers. His partner on the ticket, Biden, is one of the leading foreign policy experts in Congress. They pledge to rebuild America's diminished standing in the world and restore our reputation as the leading defender of democracy and human rights...

They have a beef about Palin too:
"Perhaps the worst mistake McCain made in his campaign for the White House was the choice of the inexperienced and inflammatory Palin as his vice-presidential running mate. Had he selected a moderate, experienced Republican lawmaker such as Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison with a strong appeal to independents, the Chronicle's choice for an endorsement would have been far more difficult." (?)
unbelievable.........................
Chronicle is pretty liberal, especially for being the major newspaper of the only city to go for Bush in both elections.
Fish wrap
Shocked. SHOCKED!
I’m soooo shocked! /end sarcasm
What do these left wing rags think radical socialism is going to do for them? They have made a horrid choice to trash America, and support socialism and its ilk.....
WHY????
This is the crap that really pisses me off. Where were these whiny bass turds when Camp Obama was crucifying Trig Palin for have Down's and Bristol Palin for being pregnant? Commie hypocrites!
It would not surprise me at all if Kay Bailey put the HC up to this endorsement and include the phrase about her. She has become a disgrace with her non support of the McCain-Palin ticket once Palin came on board. She needs to retire.
At least Dallas got it right...
That last comment’s the real laugher...as if they would have endorsed McCain had he chosen Tom Ridge...now that’s funny.
Colour me not shocked.
“While Arizona Sen. John McCain and his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have struck an increasingly personal and negative tone in their speeches, Obama has continued to talk about issues of substance.”
Expect to continue hearing this plagiarized shared talking point. This along with “erratic” and “angry.”
That seditious stupid SOB'n socialist couldn't rub two sticks together and get a clue ! He's his handlers sock monkey, nothing more !
But then I repeat myself often !......;o)

Make their job easier. They'll only have to report half the news. And the stories will already come to them typed and edited straight from the Obama press room.
Oh, wait, that's how it is now.

He's thoughtful and analytical.
And these are people that voted for Bush TWICE. They can't even give a good reason for voting for Obama - except they believe the lines that McCain is "more of the same" - they are voting AGAINST the Republican Party.
They also make a game out of making fun of Sarah too...maybe she hits too close to home for some of the young hipsters...she reminds me of a lot of good salt-of-the-earth Texans we have.
Well considering that illegal aliens and New Orleans evacuees have completely taken over the city, is this really a surprise?
ping
Not surprising...
But I would not have known this because I do not take the paper...And for good reason...
It’s almost too expensive just to use as bird cage liner...And I won’t steal it from some homeless guy using it for insulation, and “other” things...
You would think that after years of telling every new account hound they hire there to get new subscriptions would have my number flagged for “do not call”, they’d take the hint...
Out of a possible readership of 5-6 million, they only have about (and I stand to be corrected) 180,000 subscriptions...That speaks volumes...
So, take out the lack of political experience he get’s how to work with low to moderate income folks...Well, so do I, you try to help them out by helping htem help themselves. Whooo hooooooooo!! Vote for PM in 2012, I’m in!!!!
If only that’s all it took...good grief.
ping.
You read the chronic lie?
Houston Chronicle controlled by owners of San Francisco Chronicle. They have no competition in Houston and they are still losing readership.
Yes, they are also against the Death Penalty.
Talk about being out of touch in Texas!
I’ll take the governor over the “community organizer” any day.
That’s what I called it when I lived there.
I wish I had a subscription to the Chronic-Ill so I could cancel it.
Which reminds me of a potential point of leverage.
Repeal the exception. Then flush twice; it's a long way to Galveston Bay.
They are facing even more cutbacks and laying off even
more folks because subscribers are dropping the paper
due to their extreme bias.
I am canceling my Chronicle subscription after years of sending money to read this garbage.
It must be nice to support a dying business like these newspapers do.
All they produce now is trash I use to keep the driveway clean when I change my oil.
I am with you. Except I don’t subscribe to the newspaper in the first place. How can I cancel my subscription under those circumstances?
And this is the photo they used of Fearless Leader:
“The tasks at hand will require stamina, creativity and leadership abilities to replace partisan gridlock with a national consensus on what is best for the American people.”
So giving a novice legislator the keys to the White House with a majority Congress of the same party (with an approval rating of 9%) is wise?
There won’t be partisan gridlock because the Democrats will run the whole shebang. I thought they said it was a BAD thing when the Republicans reportedly “rubber stamped” the President’s agenda.
The Comical partnered with Ken Lay to achieve the slim margin of victory on the stadium referendum.
Then the Houston Chronicle expressed “shock” when the Enron debacle was exposed under their very noses.
“Where were these whiny bass turds when Camp Obama was crucifying Trig Palin for have Down’s and Bristol Palin for being pregnant?”
The Houston Chronicle was silent.
Just another branch office of Pravda.

Call them up anyway and say "thanks for the reminder as to why I don't subscribe to your rag."
I canceled my subscription over a decade ago over the political bias. I told them so as I canceled. I still got "resubscription" calls. I told them no that their paper had a liberal bias (and that was very apparent in the local coverage even if they were endorsing Bush). One time when I told the caller this, I hung up and he (or she I don't recall) called back and stayed silent (I could hear the phone banks in the background that I had just heard).
In other words, McCain made a choice to place a true conservative on his ticket and that pissed the Houston Communist off.
Kay Bailey would make a great choice for VP... on Hillary's ticket!!! But that hag is no conservative.
Add me to that ping list would ya..
I was unaware there was a Houston PL.

This is also appropriate:
The Houston Chronicle NEEDS a messiah and they’re hoping this is him. That paper is a totally liberal rag. I don’t understand that. If you look at the map Harris County is red with a little blue in the middle. You’d think they’d play to the masses but they don’t.
They point out “his well thought out positions” but don’t say they’re all lies.
