Obama and his supporters aren't the threat. They are merely a diversion. The real threat is our own gov’t in washington that has pillaged us and shredded the constitution

I don’t understand any person who shouts “revolution” but fails to understand the pain and blood that would follow such a thing.

I’ve got a neighbor who is making a still. He’s got some apple wine he wants to “fortify”. I’d be willing to test out his applejack.

The bad thing is....the folks that really, REALLY matter won't be quoted, noted or recognized....now, or going forward.

The difference is the MSM / DBM......as THEY are the enemy, my friend. It's they that have betrayed our country! It's they that have not reported the truth about our "leaders".

If we want to gain control over our beloved country again...it's thru the media.

The marxist communist leftist libs know this...and have known it for years now......but THAT is the WAY!!

I've been dragged into this.....but I am very willing to die for what the fore fathers believed in...and put to paper.

I am of Potawatomi blood...I am of French blood, and am of German blood, among others...BUT I AM A FREE AMERICAN!!!!!! And I will be resolute in defending that concept.

I will die before I submit to socialist, marxist, leftist, communist, democrats.

And I am not the only one that thinks that way!!

My wife and I were talking about this today.

We see all this anger and hostility from the left in this election but in Dixie it doesn’t manifest much like in Portland or Madison or New York.

I know some folks here fear going out with pro-Mccain stuff.

I go about anyhwere but I do take care a bit more in the hood I guess.

Anyhow, we’re lucky down here. You guys up north better get ready.

Obama wins and the goblins happy riot.

Obama loses and they will be pissed.

That's like saying that a Cadillac is a terrible car because crack dealers prefer it.
But Cadillacs are reliable. Honestly, as I used to tell customers looking at defense/carry guns for their first time :How much is your Life worth? Would you spend 5 or 600 to cure a disease that will save your life? Of course you would. There are tons of police 9mm trades now on the market, if you like 9mm. Look at Shotgun News ads. Have a local friendly dealer order one for you. Cost maybe 375 out the door. I will not be placing my family's future on a die cast pot metal gun.
I recommend a decent handgun,9mm,40 or 45, with about 300 rounds+. Shotgun, pump twelve for newbies (250+ rounds of 00, and slugs, too), and if you have any money left, an AR-15 or AK (either 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 caliber),7-10 mags , and 1000 rounds, as the budget allows. If you can't afford the rifle, shop for a used 30-30 lever. For urban, prioritize the shotgun over the rifle. Go with more slugs too.

"Because some people have problems/issues with the Ruger Mini-14 Rifle."

I can't speak to the Ruger mini-14, however that is one rifle. It looks to me like there were a number of posters in that link you sent me that like it. Ruger makes a lot of great guns. The 10/22 is a great rifle to start a kid out on. The M-77 is a good bolt action rifle. The bearcats are great revolvers and the Mark III is a great pistol. Good firearms at a good price.

1 AR-15

I've been advised that a 7.62 NATO/.308 is more desirable than the .223.

What say you?

depends on the firing environment and how much weight you like to carry in regards to number of rounds...

West Texas ranch....7.62

Soutside of Chicago...5.56

The AR15 in 5.56 (aka .223) the quintesential arm of the US military (militia included, covering the M16 and M4 variants). sobieski’s question regarded “prudent”, which I take as “acceptable minimum”. If you don’t have one, you’re not “well regulated”. Yes there are many arguments over it (which we shall not engage in here), yet it remains the standard for our military and that of many nations. It is lightweight, high capacity, modular, and does the job if you’ll do yours.

The next-step list would start with a 7.62 NATO (aka .308 Win) bolt-action or AR10 (esp. SASS variant). Methinks the .308 requires a bit more training and discipline for effective use, and is more suitable for long-range applications (with everything that goes along with “sniping”). .308 ammo is heavier & bulkier, cycling is slower, the platform is bigger, and recoil is stronger - hence it is less suitable for close-range work, which is most likely where the action will be. It will certainly give better results than .223, but at a price.

Next step list:
1 7.62NATO bolt-action or AR10/SASS with 10x mil-dot scope
1 12ga pump >6 round mag
1 9mm AND 1 .45ACP
1 .22LR
1000 rounds for each

Whatever you do, get Jeff Cooper’s book “The Art of the Rifle”.

A note on the AR15: this is a tempermental platform. Make sure you have a proper combination of ammo (weight & penetration), barrel length, twist rate. Don’t cheap out.
