A good friend and I have had pretty heated discussions the last few weeks about the election. He is an Obama supporter. It came to a crescendo today and I know he’s pretty angry at me. Hopefully, it will all be forgotten after next week. It just goes to show how divided and polarized this country is right now.

The same has happened to me....by friend of over twenty years started cursing at me when I told him I haven’t watched SIXTY MINUTES since they used forged documents in the last election cycle.

He hasn’t talked to me for a month. He thinks Mary Mapes is right....that the fact the docs were likely forged doesn’t dismiss “the story” of Bush being AWOL.

When I pointed out to him one can’t base a “story” on documents that aren’t real he became furious....I look at it as his problem.

I always thought it would be odd to live in an area where everyone voted like me. The only time in my life when I had GOP representation at every level was when I lived in Miami (99-02).

If your friend is willing to end your friendship with him/her because who you are voting for, you were a better friend to this person than they were to you. Your friendship to them was merely superficial it seems.

Nope. I work with all liberal Democrats and they think I’m quaint. You’ve managed find someone you obviously didn’t know very well, either.

That’s a shame. Most of my family are Democrats, some of them are loony toons liberals too. Its kind of sad, because these days, I dont even like visiting them. Its not that they get into politics alot with me (they know better), but they have CNN on their big screens all the time and they are talking smack about politics all the while I am there, just not very friendly environs. Those people cannot separate their politics from their personal lives.

I have a friend who is a liberal. Every 4 years it goes cold between us from August to November.

Usually thaws out by the spring. :)

Actually, I have it in the reverse. I am so angry at my friends who are supporting that Communist that I am distancing myself. They refuse to even look at another option.

Cheer up.

I have lost my mother and sister to Obama's poisoned Kool-Aid.

They are mentally lost people now.

He has ended our friendship because I am supporting McCain and not Obama.

Tonight is THE night to write a hand-written note (copy it) and drop it off at two dozen homes in your neighborhood.

Dear Neighbor: I love America too much to sit idly by without getting involved.

I am urging everyone who loves this great country to support John McCain, a man of supurb integrity and honesty.

Obama is too dangerous and unknown to trust with the future of this great country, both financially and otherwise.

Do the right thing: support John McCain and Sarah Palin.

You won't regret your decision.

Signed.... (YOUR NAME)

I’ve lost friends over things like this and could care less. There are many like-minded people that suits my needs in a friend much better. If you really analyze the friendship, didn’t you find this person a bit...well...trying? If he/she is an Obama supporter, they’d have to have shown telltale signs that were annoying.

**Not much of a friend.**

Have to agree there!! I don’t chose my friends by their Politics, but apparently Liberals do. I’ve lost several friends over the years...Hell I’ve lost JOBS and been Fired once for making a “Remark” that was overtly rightwing.

Sometimes the world SUCKS.. have to stand up, straighten your tie and keep moving.

He or she was not a friend to start with. I have a lot of acquaintances that are for Obama and I will treat them the same as always.I think Obama is the worse thing that could happen to America right now. I even think if he wins we will end up as a Communist country but until the time comes to fight I will treat them with respect as long as they treat me the same way.

No liberal friends here. Some liberal family members but those I can’t chase away. I’ve tried, believe me, they won’t go.

Welcome to Freerepublic. Are you guys writing a book over at DU about how you all cleverly tried to solidify your stereotypes about us and what we might say?

He has gone so far as to say that I'm not the person he thought I was all these years.

That phrase has a familiar ring to it.

I wonder how many have lost jobs over this?

Not by mouthing off at work, but simply because they know how you really feel.

By looking at the Ronald Reagan calendar hanging in your office.

I am very passive agresive toward my parents and siblings. I’ve not showed up for a lot of extended family events.

I know I’m wrong, but I’m overwhelmed with disappointment, sadness and resentment.
