"Noonan is a professional wordsmith and is overly impressed by style rather than substance."

Noonan appears to be what can now be known as a "Journalistic prostitute" as far as I'm concerned.

Yep! She's always had this preening & posturing attitude.

I think she's making a big mistake in assuming the election of Obambi (if it happens) is the start of a new liberal era. We keep hearing in the media that it's similar to Reagan's win in 1980, which launched a conservative era. But there are some obvious differences.

**Reagan had a track record. We knew he was competent and could get things done because of his years as California governor. He wasn't an empty suit who talked his way into one office and them immediately began campaigning for another, without bothering to actually accomplish anything. What has Obambi ever actually accomplished?

**Reagan ran as a conservative, openly and proudly. I can still remember liberals fuming because he made “liberal” into a dirty word. In every speech he went after the liberals by name and declared himself a conservative. Has Obambi done the opposite? Has he proudly declared himself a liberal and called for the rejection of conservatism? Not at all. He's avoided ideological issues like the plague, promising tax cuts, efficient government, a strong military, and pretending to be pro-family and pro-gun. When Reagan took office and behaved as a conservative, his supporters were delighted because he had openly run as a conservative. But a decent sized percentage of Obambi’s voters are going to be horrified when they find out what they've elected. No one who voted for Reagan was horrified after his election. No one said, “Damn, I voted for him because I thought he'd be liberal.” But if Obambi wins he'll only do so by conning millions of conservatives into voting for him.

**Reagan won over the objections of the media. Throughout that campaign, the media “warned” that Reagan would start WWIII, would eliminate social security, would pander to the “rich”, would throw starving children into workhouses. When he did none of those things, it added to his appeal among voters who had voted against him in 1980, allowing him to win a huge landslide in 1984. Obambi, on the other hand, is being force-fed to us by a media who tell us he's literally a world savior and a messiah, he's “my precious”, the most perfect human being to ever walk the face of the earth. When he turns out to not only be mortal, but a mediocrity if not an abomination, it'll be one of the great “I told you so” moments for those of us who didn't drink Peggy Baby's Kool Aid.

I meant to mention re: Noonan's Catholicism. We often forget the sympathy Catholics have often had for Socialist policies--just look at Graham Greene.

The folks who claim "Jesus was a Socialist" aren't that far off.

Peggy, you spent 1248 words saying exactly nothing.

Congratulations, you have just been awarded the American Bloviator Diploma from the American Bloviator Diploma Company of Walla Walla, Washington.

My guess is that Peggy Noonan, who was a young woman when Reagan entered office, was a Junior Speechwriter. Yes she wrote a few memorable lines for Reagan and then has spent the last 25 plus years living off that association.
If anyone should have the presence of mind to know a complete empty suit when she sees one it's Noonan.
But living in New York she has become a complete RINO and if she really ever had any Conservative Leanings they are gone now.
If McCain pulls it off Tuesday what will Noonan and the rest of the RINO pundits say then????????
