I’ll be waiting to see half a dozen outside broadcast vans overturned and on fire and I will be LMAO.

Even if McCain wins it tomorrow, one thing that must be said about Obama is that he was NOT “easy to beat”.

Sorry for the pessimism, but I don’t see McCain winning. Probably for the exact reason you’ve posted - McCain would not go after Obama tooth and nail. The very fact that McCain put Jeremiah Wright off-limits showed that he wasn’t willing, or perhaps not even able to, fight with both barrels blazing.

But make no mistake: considering the circumstances, John McCain did as well as anyone the Republicans could have put up this time around. NO “hard conservative” candidate would have done as well, because this year, the victory will be determined by the “middle”: white democrats who are afraid of Obama because he’s black (and I can’t say that any more politely). Those voters can feel comfortable voting for McCain, “even though he is a Republican”. Neither Duncan Hunter nor Fred Thompson would have had a chance (and I would rather vote for them than for McCain). The media would have demonized Huckabee on religious grounds, ignoring Obama’s Islamic roots (as they have done). Romney would have gotten nowhere.

I expect to be flamed for this, but I believe the only other candidate who might have given Obama a real challenge would have been Rudy. Like McCain, Rudy would have pulled in the mushy middle and the white dems (as he did in New York City). But more importantly, Rudy would have relished in the attack - he would have gone after Obama _and_ the media.”. For McCain, coming from his Senate background, it seemed “ungentlemanly”. But for Rudy, this is sport!

That said, even though McCain hasn’t a chance in my state, I’m still heading to the polls in the morning and do my part. What else is there to do?

- John

You are right. I shouldn’t joke about it. I just get sick of the media trying to scare people into voting for Zero.
