Sarah Palin could wind up in Washington serving with John McCain after all -- in the U.S. Senate.
Here's the scenario making the rounds of arch-conservative groups strongly in the Palin camp:
After their expected loss today, Palin goes back to being governor of Alaska and McCain remains a U.S. Senator (his term ends in 2011).
But Ted Stevens, the Alaskan Republican senator convicted recently of corruption, is still up for re-election as of today.
Here's where Palin and the Senate come in:
If Stevens wins, he could either step down on his own (unlikely, given his pugnacious personality) or the U.S. Senate could expel him in 2009.
Then, Alaska would hold an election to choose a new senator.
And, in this version at least, the oh-so-popular Palin would run and win a seat in the U.S. Senate

Maybe she’ll go over to the Alaska Independence Party. If so, I’ll be moving up there.
I believe it begins to make sense when you realize that Obama was mesmerizing the masses, and Palin wasn’t who Obama was running against. Still, it certainly is disconcerting that people could thing this guy has the experience required to be President. He really doesn’t.
Gov Palin needs to stay on as Governor. Being at the top of the Republican ticket in Alaska is much better than being a junion legislator, one of one hundred.
Good plan. You should send it to her.
No.
I don’t want her base of operations in that swamp.
Stay in Alaska, Govern wisely and conservatively. Build substantial conservative connections and help build an alternative coalition to that of the GOP to help elect conservatives into local and state wide offices across the country in 2010. From there she’d have a supportive base to launch a 2012 run for the presidency.
Being a US Senator Sarah could be a constant irritant to the liberals. They would hate her but the American people would come to love her honesty and straight Conservative thinking. She is the closest hope to a national Conservative that we have. Moreover, John McCain could not be controlling what she is saying or doing.
Leave her as the Governor and run Todd for senate. Then she can run for President in 2012.
Mamma I think you have been thrown from a horse too often. Your thinking is screwed up on Sarah Palin. The Republican party needs an authenthic Conservative candidate who speaks and talks conservative values of life and freedom. We don’t need mush mouths like McCain who don’t know what they are doing. He ran the stupidest campaign I ever witnessed. The only reason I and millions more voted the McCain ticket was BECAUSE Sarah Palin was on it.
I would also suggest she help other candidates across the nation in 2010. It would help her develop some chits for future use.

Dear Governor Sarah Palin,
Please come to Tennessee in 2010, and help our Republican candidate for Gov...
Feel free to bring your whole beautiful family...
See you then,
Sincerely,
Nana

Jindal has the same qualifications/problems as Gov. Palin. He is a young Governor of a state with many problems, Katrina aftermath, etc. The media will be all over him just like they tore into Gov. Palin.
I respect the courage she showed on the campaign trail. She was probed, investigated, and bad-mouthed by EVERYONE in the MSM. BUT, she held her head high, didn’t cave to their demands and at the end, was still wildly popular with the base.
We all know what the problem is in Washington. We have WAY too many RINO’s. Here is an opportunity for her to gain some “insider” experience, call out the Dems (and RINO’s) on their fiscal irresponsibilty and become a LEADER in Washington.
I am not worried about the “sleaze” because I believe her core principles will shine a bright light on the corruption and back-door dealings that exist in the Senate. Besides, who could better impact energy policy than a former Governor from an energy producing state?
Sarah, You lit a fire under the Republican base. Most of the votes for McCain/Palin were really for you. Now we ask that you make another sacrifice for the good of the country and conservatives in general. We need Sarah Palin in the US Senate. AND, I’ve got $100 bucks to donate to the “Palin for Senate” campaign. Who’ll join me?
It broke my heart to see her in tears last night. She is a real person. And Todd looked like he’d been hit by a truck. They were in this, heart and soul, GOD BLESS THEM.
I was going along with some of what you said until the above. What is wrong with you people? You Mormon haters/bashers had a huge hand in fragmenting the base and bringing about our defeat. You missed the part where Mitt would be pro-life.
I sure hope Sarah doesn't share your vitriol towards LDS; if so, I wasted time and treasure on this election.
let me expand on this idea... I think that Palin should stay in Alaska as governor until 2010. In 2010, her state holds a senate election. I believe that she should stay in her state of Alaska as governor until 2012 because, instead of running herself for Steven’s seat, she could appoint another non-corrupt conservative republican. That will add some needed strength to the Republican Party in the Senate. Palin then should run in 2012 for President. I think she should choose another hardcore conservative that is in the senate to run as her vp (maybe Lindsey Graham or McConnell).
She should be prepared to run against Obama and she must go door-to-door in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey (a state I believe will be a swing state in 2012), The Carolinas, Iowa, Colorado, and New Mexico. Theses states, the states that mostly went to Obama, must be won my Palin in 2012. She must campaign and campaign fearlessly.
Sarah Palin ‘12
She needs to send somebody up there who will shake things up.
This is not hate. This is Biblical discernment about a cult that is not Christian.
I was for McCain since January of this year and could not understand why “Christian” leaders endorsed Romney when they know full well Mormons are not Christians and share no core Christian beliefs.
Watch the South Park episode on Mormonism for the summary version.
SARAH, NOOOOOOO!!!!! Don’t do it. Governers are elected President much more often than Senators, mainly because their jobs a similar. Stay in Alaska!!!!!
