Why Obama won
Yahoo/Politico ^ | Guy Fawkes Day, 5 Nov. | Smith/Martin

Barack Obama’s sweeping victory as president of the United States sends him to the White House to face what may be the worst national financial crisis since the time of Franklin Roosevelt’s election in 1932.

Obama won on his own terms, strategically and symbolically. He rolled up a series of contested states, from Colorado to Virginia, long out of Democratic reach. And his victory reflected the accuracy of his vision of a reshaped country. Racism, much discussed, turned out to be a footnote, and African-American turnout was not unusually high. Instead, Obama drew his strength from an array of racially mixed, growing areas around cities like Orlando, Washington, Indianapolis, and Columbus on his way to at least 334 electoral votes.

( ... )

he found victory with a multiracial coalition that has the makings of a formidable political base of power.

If his was the first 21st century campaign, his victory was powered by a new face of America: comprised of all ethnicities, hailing mostly from cities and suburbs, largely under 40 years old, and among all income classes.

As they emphatically proved by obliterating the presidential color line, many of these voters are not guided by traditional cultural attachment to race, religion or region.

What makes his victory so resounding, and so daunting for Republicans, was that he combined support from African-Americans, Jews, and young whites with other key groups. He also reversed President Bush’s advances with Hispanic voters.

This is an excerpt, and this is all bullsteam at best, and vicious dishonesty at worst. Anyfool can see that Obama won with vast multitides of multiple, illegal, often-foreign-derived, internet contributions, and Obama won because the print and screen media largely refused to investigate anything he had ever said or done, or anyone he'd ever worked or associated or aligned himself with.

No. Obama won because McCain got 6.5 million less votes than Bush did in ‘04. When Republicans show up at the polls, we win. When we don’t, we lose.

Obama won because this election was a referendum on the last eight years under the Bush administration.

Obama wasn’t elected because he was loved. He was elected because Bush was hated.

Is it possible that those people DID show up, only to vote for Obama? Anyone have the stats on republican turnout and how they voted?

Why did Obama beat McCain last night?

$600,000,000+ > $84,000,000

relentless 24/7 biased mainstream media

This is a message I got from a relative this a.m. America said 'no' to bigotry. It is amazing. But don't feel that all lost. There was a victory for your kind. California said yes to bigotry, Prop 8 passed.

Political correctness is now more important than the old values. I don't see how we can ever get back to where we were.

Obama won because generally American are stupid..
No matter the color or education American women are generally politically stupid..

But then its always been so.. not all women but almost all women.. Giving women the vote was also stupid.. And THAT IS WHY Obama won the presidency.. Women so easy to flim flam.. Tell them what they WANT TO HEAR.. and you have them by the heart..

After being elected then tell them something ELSE they want to hear.. and they will forget the "promise" you told them.. When you DONT DO what you tell them then CHANGE THE SUBJECT.. it usually works.. If not then tell them something else they want to hear.. That always works.. Unless they are NOT stupid which is a rare event..

You know what?... most democrats(rinos) ARE WOMEN....

When Bush was campaigning against nation building efforts in 2000 he was right.

When he got us into nation building in Afghanistan and Iraq he was wrong.

And that he did not stop this nation building by 2005 he did us in for the next 40 years.

No possible success in the ME or anywhere else in the world will outweigh the damage of 40+ years of brain-dead pinkos running the federal government.

Obama won because all of the black population voted for him based on his race which is about 13% of the population. Then half of the white populatin voted for him as well which is 1/2 of 80%. The same thing happened when the Dems were deciding between Hillary and Obama for Dem. Candidate. All the blacks voted for Obama and the white votes were 50/50 between Obama and Hillary. If you look at the US census you will see what I am talking about. Total US blacks 13% and US whites 80%. Its not the white population that is racist as I see it.

Bend over............ open wide............

Take heart - I bet he’s a one-termer. No WAY will he be able to clean up the economic mess - he’s going to drive it deeper - so to speak.

Not to mention the out of control spending the Republicans did and the Republican congress not using their control to their advantage - instead trying to play nice with the rats.

And - Bush not standing up for himself didn’t help us at all. Lots of voters think the Republicans are to blame for the financial meltdown.

Genius.

Anyone have the stats on republican turnout and how they voted?

I heard the stats on the radio this morning from George Stephonopolis. (sp?)

I remember the Republican percentage, 32% of Republicans voted.

If I remember correctly, it was 49% democrats, or very close to that number.

It's basically the fault of lazy Repubs not getting off their dead butts and voting.

On the other hand, Glenn Beck had a good point this morning, it may be a blessing in disguise.

Imagine 4 years of having people think McCain's behavior reflects that of all Republicans.

Zero won because his party put up a man who stood for the core-leftist beliefs of his party and who was proud to show it.

We lost because we put up a tired old RINO whose selection of Palin just couldn’t mask his own middle-of-the-road liberalism.

I don't have a lot of confidence in those 6.5 million being "Republican" voters. I think they were indies who were looking for a convienient excuse to abandon McCain. McCain's outreach to Conservatives to rally the base, including his putting Sarah Palin on the ticket, gave them that convienient excuse.

Regardless of the spin that is out there and will be out there, Palin was a big net positive to McCain. The indies who abandoned him would have done so anyways. Palin brought the base back to McCain after he spent the better part of a decade poking sticks in their eyes. Without Palin McCain would probably have lost by 8-10 points, rather than 3-4.
