My Commitment to Conservatism and my fellow FReepers/Friends (Vanity)
vanity | 11/05/08 | GlacierHoney

Posted on 11/05/2008 11:11:23 AM PST by Glacier Honey

I spent the morning in my town prayer group and we prayed and read 1st Peter and Psalms 24 and many other scriptures. I have peace in my heart and a game plan for the next 4 years. I picked up the Christina business directory and plan to use it.

After prayer I went to the salon and spoke with the owner where I’ve been going to for 7 years and explained that since they openly supported Obama, I will no longer bring them my business which is $125.00 ever three months which comes out to $500.00 a year.

I then went to my neighborhood owned gun store and put down money on my new Baby Eagle 9mm.

After that, I went to the family owned Mexican restaurant that we have been going to for 5 years and explained that I could no longer afford to eat at his restaurant , especially one who tried to convince me Obama was going to help his business succeed beyond his wildest dreams.

A month ago I told the lawn company who I have used the last 6 years to blow out my sprinkler system for the winter, that I would no longer use their services because of the Obama sticker on his work truck. I explained to him that I did not want to be the cause of his business paying extra taxes if he were to make too much money. I purchased a small compressor and taught myself how to do it and saved $50.00. I have also earned another $40.00 for winterizing 4 of my neighbor’s sprinkler systems who also used the same lawn company.

I am cutting way back on my expenses and will not consciously support a liberal small business or any business that I can avoid that is liberal. I will not longer go to the movies.

I’ll continue to work hard and continue to educate myself on the economy and exactly who is to blame for this economic mess. Doesn’t matter if it is a Rino of Demorat, let the chips fall where they may. I will not vote for them.

I have learned working in a liberal environment to never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This is my commitment to me and my country and my fellow conservatives. I feel empowered and I would like to encourage others to take a stand and do what you feel is right for you and your family.

Lastly, I will bring myself to be obedient to my Lord and pray for Obama’s soul. God can do a mighty work in him if He chooses to. We will see.

Thanks FR for all you have done for us and we will continue to fight the good fight. G.H.

I like your idea, but I wonder if we shouldn’t figure out a way to keep it private?

I think you’re doing great things. If we did it en masse we would have something. I own a salon and I don’t bring up politics unless they are brought up first. Most of our clients are conservative and I’ve turned many on to FR.

You make no sense at all to me.

Well, Obama has promised thousands and thousands of jobs rebuilding America's roads and bridges. I've been told these jobs pay around 10 to 15 an hour and I'm sure all of the dead beat dads and people on welfare will be lining up to fill these jobs or, will the illegal aliens fill them on the taxpayers dime?

Bless You, Honey!

It’s amazing, huh, how the pioneers did it all on their lonesome too.

If more people did for themselves, the gubamint wouldn’t have to take so much from the rest of us to do for those who are unwilling to take care of business they could easily handle.

Prayers for the 3rd term of a Clinton administration and the nation’s survival.

At least it sure looks like a Clinton won again..

His appointments will reveal how much has not changed in the demoncRat party or its agenda..

Change? (guffaw)

We are lucky, we have a christian book store who has a coffee shop in it. I like their lattes just as much as Starbucks now.

I will buy it for more on the internet rather than use their shop.

How can you be sure they did not vote for Obama too?

That’s the problem. However, online books are usually cheaper—but I wish I could find websites that advertise as Conservative. You can’t even be sure of ones that say they are Christian. Maybe we can have freepers with businesses keep a running thread of their enterprises.

You’ve identified a possible service for FReepers...a directory of businesses, here, where people like us (small business owners) can interact and keep the business where it can do the most good—for us and what we believe.

GMTA. I've thought of this idea over the past year and meant to post a proposal to the forum. It would be an excellent thing to do, and possible revenue source for FR taking a small commission.

I’m thinking that if we could get expert advice/permission from Mr. Robinson, we could get us a thread going here and lock it so it can only be added to by members or a moderator. We should make it easy for members to find other members who are in business.

One of the things I do for a living is voice over narrations for commercials. So if, for instance, a member who needed that service wanted to contact me, they could do so by getting the information in the thread.

A simple user name and website or spam proof e-mail address would do the job, IMHO.

I have to leave for work now but I will look into this further.
I’m off to hear people gloat and praise their new messiah.

You’re correct Obama will not be a bad President, he will be a terrible President. Marxist do not make good or even bad Presidents.

Let’s keep it small & simple...an annual donation (like those for the FReepathon) should be a qualifying criteria.

My sense is that the entries should just be limited to the Screen name of the FReeper, a clickable link to either the business web site/contact page or e-mail address, and a short (30 or fewer) key word entry of the business capabilities.

The simpler this is, the more time we have to do business with our fellow FReepers who can benefit from our assembled talents. I’d bet we have many talents here.

(Let’s remember what Scripture says about burying talents...)

Maybe you can find the books you may want at Ebay, and you will survive without the latte 8>).

At least some people will be working. Maybe some of the unemployed Wall Street guys can put on a pair of blue jeans, swap the Bednz for a pickup truck, and start spreading asphalt out there on the highway. Be good for them to do some real work.

I just think you are overdoing the loss thing. Presidents have less power than most of us think. If O gets too far left, he will bump into entrenched Dems and Reps and the public. I wouldn’t take it out on some poor Mexicans over there serving refried beans, or your plumber, or do like my mom and threaten to move to Australia.

Truth is, conservatives have gotten out of touch with people to some degree and tend to lay on too much superego isuues.

parsy, who thinks O will probably be good for the country.

I'm with you too!

Today we received our monthly coupons from the local Indian casino offering us discounts on rooms and shows. We are not big gamblers . . . but around small town Midwest America there is not too much going on so when they book some small time acts we try to go to the shows just for our entertainment. I think we might spend about $2000 a year. That sounds like a lot but my wife and I (empty nesters both working 40 to 60 hours a week) don't do anything else for entertainment - we never go to the bars and very rarely eat out.

From reading the papers we know the local tribes are 100% for Obama. So after some discussion, my wife and I took the Indian casino discounts, put them in an envelope, and returned them to the Casino explaining that we could not justify spending any more of our hard earned money on a business that supports someone who wants to "spread our wealth" to others who didn't work for it. And along with their coupons and our note we included the itinerary for our week long trip to Cozumel that we just booked for February this year instead of visiting their casino 5 or 6 times.

After all, don't the poor Mexicans deserve our wealth more than the Indian casinos? Sounds fair to me.

How can we expect God to bless America when we exclude Him from our schools where children are brainwashed with liberalism, we exclude Him from government business (except for Islam!), we exclude Him from conversation, He is openly damned in our universities, and even some churches exclude Him from worship?

Jeremiah Wright said “It isn’t God bless America, it is God f-— America!” and look at how many American citizens (?) agree with him!!!

I’m sorry to respectfully disagree, but I feel like I have held hate in my heart for long enough. I feel like our great beloved country needs fixing and we hae to pull together. How can I expect for my voice to be heard if I cut out that of me neighbors. I have many friends, some are not conservative like me, but I know they are good people, and with the way things are, I have been laid off from my job, where I worked for 10 years, and even my democrat friends have been there for me, ready to lend a helping hand. If wish we could stop all this fighting, this blaming game, this hate and viciousness. I really hope we can come together and make this a better time. For my child’s sake too. Maybe this won’t be a popular post, I’m sure I’ll get slammed. All I’m trying to do is just say what’s i my heart, how I feel. I go to church and my pastor preaches forgiveness, and I really wish we could go there together.
Thanks for listening. I haven’t been on too many websites before, and I was really hoping to find some like minded conservatives in the web community.

When I read this, it made me think of some important Scripture that I read last night:

Matthew 7 1-5
‘Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck in your neighbour’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbour, “Let me take the speck out of your eye”, while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbour’s eye.

7:12: ‘In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.

Also, look at the Lord’s Prayer:

And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Mt 6:12)

Often we just say that without thinking about its implication. That’s saying that we’re asking God to forgive us as much as we forgive those who have made us angry? It’s conditional, you know? Forgive US in the same way we forgive those people we disagree with, who have sinned against us. If we don’t forgive them, then how can God forgive us any less? That’s tough. But that is what scripture tells us we have to do. That’s Jesus there, the Word of God, having been with God for all time, our one Messiah and savior telling us to forgive and not judge anyone.

But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Praise God and may God continue to bless the United States.
