Yes! We need to start fighting to win. Enough of this "taking the high road" BS... no more deals with dirty Democrats and "reaching across the aisle" nonsense. We need a young charismatic people -- not recycled old senators. We need to stay on message and raise as much $$ as possible.

We need some good "BACK BENCH BOMB THROWERS" to stop the runaway DemocRAT giveaway machine. PHIL-E-BUSTER!

I disagree- vehemently. The entire basis of Alinsky’s rules is the use of deception and manipulation. Clearly- we need to “market” and “sell” our ideas better- but the rules of Alinsky are not rooted in CONSERVATIVE principles.

Again- any fight for ideas based upon the ends justifying the means is destined to fail, either immediately or over time. THAT is why socialism does NOT work. It survives as an idea because it answers a vague longing that the world should be a better and fairer place. It FAILS because it removes the equally human desire to spontaneously reach out and help people who are hurting or in trouble. It legalizes and demands I give to my brother or sister.

Go listen to or read Ronald Reagan’s “Rendezvous with Destiny” speech. Get grounded in conservative philosphy and ideas- learn how to talk about them and articulate why they WORK when they’re tried.

I’m not encouraging a passive attitude- that’s part of what has brought us to this place. We NEED people who will be unafraid to talk about our principles- who avoid vague non-answers to difficult questions.

Saul Alinsky IS well worth studying- to understand the mind of our opponents- NOT to emulate.

We don’t need everyone on this board. We need 10 or so committed individuals in each major city.

Someone go dump a load of horse sh!t in the lobby of Newsweek to start.

Target local individuals until they break.

Expect the mindless herd of all talk no walk complainers (united by a shared hatred of Bush) to play the part of the victim as they supposedly watchdog the government that they control.
Indeed.

It’s a shame we couldn’t have destroyed Obama when he ran for Senate (or sooner) because it was clear to me then he would be a formidable candidate for the presidency.

Funny you should mention Reagan, I was searching out his speeches last night! He was amazing at articulating Conservative principles. We don’t have anyone like that right now—Gingrich has too much baggage. There is no one that’s inspirational and educational at one and the same time. Jindal is impressive and articulate. Hope someone comes up on the horizon that strikes just the right balance.

The Corpse (Holmes) interviewed Joe The Plumber via satellite last night on H&C and just HAD to bring up the fact that Joe was once on Welfare.
Poor Joe...he just chuckled, shook his head & explained briefly that it was for a very short period, then moved on.
Liberals take such delight in the wanton evisceration of innocent people who dare to color outside their ideological lines.

It deeply saddens me that there is no more Reaganesque types out there. Actually, Sarah would be the closest thing, but she needs some polishing in the knowledge department.Other than that, she’s just right-strong,folksy,
family-oriented and america-loving.
I’d like to see her “pal around” with the likes of Ann Coulter and Phyllis Schlafly.Bone up on Reagan’s speeches.Study Margaret Thatcher. By the time 2012 comes around, she’d kick each and every butt that comes down the pike.NO ONE could hold her back....NO ONE. She’d be the conservative juggernaut.

I DO agree with you on this- Newt has too much baggage- besides he’s a major sellout on Global Warming...

I think Jindal is terrific- will wait to hear more from him.

Yeah, what the hey was Newt thinking when he did that stupid commercial with Pelosi. I don’t know. Sometimes I feel that those folks in Washington that we get so amped up about, don’t give a hoot about us out here. Jindal is articulate and plain spoken. I just wonder if he can be inspirational. That’s what it’s going to take. I liked Palin before McCain chose her. I’m just sorry that she wasn’t brought up to speed before they rolled her out.

yes, we use ju-jitsu.

Remember folks, conservatives are the PRODUCERS of this country. We stop, IT stops. Now, I’m not saying quit your job,

but there are ways to structure your assets and income such that you appear to own nothing and earn nothing. No taxes, and qualify for gov’t programs -

CRASH THE SYSTEM. ON PURPOSE.

Why does anybody think this guy's brilliant?

Two of his disciples fought it out to be the Dem candidate for the presidentcy and one will be in the WH.

Palin was treated SO dreadfully by the press AND the McCain campaign it’s going to take some time for her to recover. She’s got great instincts and she seems a fast learner- I’ll watch her with interest.

Actually, what we need is a reverse Gramsci plan.

Until we can teach the children, we will always loose the next generation.

So, it’s official then. We’re the “wolverines”. LOL. I was on that thread, too, I think. Should we use it as a keyword for these threads? I’ll add it to this one.

"During the 1960s Alinsky was an enormously influential force in American life. As Richard Poe reports: "When President Johnson launched his War on Poverty in 1964, Alinsky allies infiltrated the program, steering federal money into Alinsky projects. In 1966, Senator Robert Kennedy allied himself with union leader Cesar Chavez, an Alinsky disciple. Chavez had worked ten years for Alinsky, beginning in 1952. Kennedy soon drifted into Alinsky's circle. After race riots shook Rochester, New York, Alinsky descended on the city and began pressuring Eastman-Kodak to hire more blacks. Kennedy supported Alinsky's shakedown."

It's the Chavez-Alinsky-Obama wing of the Democratic Party in the White House now.

The one good thing we can borrow from these radicals is building a strong LOCAL grassroots effort.

Glad you weren't suggesting that, because I gotta tell it sure seemed you were implying we use that Marxist model.

If we want to rebuild a grassroots effort I suggest we look to Reagan's ground game.

Rebuilding the grassroots is an excellent suggestion.
