My law school roommate works for a defense contractor and has spent a lot of time in Iraq. His Iraqi friends and colleagues have been e-mailing him since Obama won the election, and they are overwhelmingly worried and demoralized. One of them even asked him whether we were going to do to the Iraqis what we did to the South Vietnamese.
I fear that's the case. We're going to abandon our friends and allies in Iraq and watch them get slaughtered. And Obama will pretend to look thoughtful and blame the whole disaster on Bush.
Reminds me of that group of anchovies on Spongebob Squarepants. They move in formation and chirp in unison.
That whole bottom paragraph is sad on so many levels.
My wife nailed it- Americans didn't vote for Barrack Obama, not really. Their dislike of George Bush was so intense that they were willing to vote a completely unqualified socialist into office just to stick it to W.
But now, they have to live with the consequences of that choice. Bush will be back on his ranch in January and the country will be stuck with a President who is wholly unprepared for the challenges of office.
Who are they going to blame for their problems a year from now, I wonder? At least my hands are clean- I can smugly say "I told you so" for the next 4 years.

I know plenty of lesbians who are so ticked off at the Democrat party that they voted for McCain. They see the Dems as sexist pigs now. Which I find really funny.

There will be a whole lot of un-returned phone calls and emails in the future. I am surrounded by 0bama supporters (my district went 75-25) and I am growing tired of it. I’ve been in a ‘blue’ state or district in every place I’ve lived, and I just can’t stand it anymore. If the local housing economy recovers, I am moving the heck out of here to a battleground state where my vote might actually make a difference.
0bama supporter friends and relatives are going to be treated like strangers. With politeness, but nothing of substance.
I am very sorry to hear that. I truly believe that the real losers in this election were the Iraqi people. I am praying that we will not abandon them to be overridden by AQ or Iran. I will keep praying.

Yes, many of them came to me yesterday morning, asking what was to become of Iraq. They were looking to us Americans for some kind of reassurance.
We couldn't give it to them.
What's even worse is that they had been so upbeat lately with things being peaceful and the streets becoming lively and happy again.
So much sacrifice and hard work went into this...

You mean having positive growth of the GDP for EVERY quarter? Or was it the average of 6% unemployment? Or was it the record federal tax revenues? Or was it the continual improvement in individual’s quality of life due to tax cuts?
Or maybe you are referencing Pelosi’s and Reid’s economy that brought us $140 bbl costs and the credit crunch.
Just because the MSM continually harped that the economy was bad for the last 7 years, doesn’t make it so. They also harped that BJ’s economy was the greatest in history. Go back and compare the numbers from 2008 with the numbers from 1998. They are almost equal, if not slightly better now....

Are you home, Allegra, or still in Baghdad? If you're still in Iraq, what are the reactions of the Iraqis like? Are any of them concerned that they're now in greater danger, that having trusted America to "stay the course" they're about to be betrayed and abandoned just like we've done to so many of our allies before?
I am so sad to hear that, however I am not surprised one bit. The 62M voters that cast a ballot for defeat and abandoning a fledgeling allie should be ashamed. I fear that they will have blood on their hands, but I pray that this is the one policy that Obama will not be able to afford to implement.
I also fear that this election will re-invigorate AQ and that they will step up attacks on the heroes that have volunteered to make the world a better place and to protect my freedoms. I will pray for you and the safety of all!
