I’m a Third Order Dominican, and believe me, I have tried doing my part and will continue to do so.

The failure to act on Biden and the fact that 45% of weekly-mass attending Catholics voted for Obama show that the bishops have no authority and are essentially powerless in their own church.

If the priests followed up on what the bishops said and preached strongly against a culture of death, then more Catholics would be forced to either become truly Catholic or leave the Church. In the parish we recently started attending, the homilies for the last several weeks stated in no uncertain terms that you are complicit in evil if you vote for a pro-abortion candidate. In the milktoast-homily parish that we are in the process of leaving, I am sure many would walk out if the priest started giving homilies like this. And I would open the door for them and give them the address of the United Methodists or the Unitarians. They have already committed a mortal sin by voting for Obama and are unrepentant. Therefore they aren't doing themselves any favors by continuing to attend a Catholic Church and receive the Eucharist. I believe it is truly time to separate the wheat from the chaff.

It’s true that many of the priests did not support those bishops who actually did say something. My bishop, who is quite liberal in most respects, actually did issue a firm and unambiguous statement. But I can guarantee you that probably fewer than 50% of the priests read it to their congregations or supported it; most of them here were clearly in the Obama camp themselves.

But I think this goes back to the failure of authority. The bishops have spent so many years ignoring error and unorthodoxy, even in those cases where the bishops themselves are orthodox, and are so reluctant to penalize or even correct their priests, that they now no longer have the ability to do so. Look at Chicago, where the awful “Father Pfleger” has been allowed to rave and spew hatred for 25 years, being only briefly disciplined last year by the bishop who then was too timid simply to remove him. So essentially he went back to letting this man run an Obama campaign out of his parish. And look at the fact that nobody has disciplined the layman Kmeic, despite the fact that he holds himself out as a Catholic thinker and teacher, and feels free to blatantly dismiss the teaching of the Church and even tell the orthodox bishops that they are misguided.

Good point. It is like when parents who never disciplined their toddler suddenly decide to start when the child becomes a teenager.

“Pope Benedict is watching.”

And he’s more than a senior lecturer.
He’s an honest to goodness professor.

Most of what he has to say would go right over Obama’s head - but Obama is so arrogant he’ll look down on Papa Razi just like he looks down on everyone.

Obama is so ignorant he doesn’t even know what he doesn’t know.

“Good point. It is like when parents who never disciplined their toddler suddenly decide to start when the child becomes a teenager.”

an excellent analogy.

For a long time it just a given that all catholics knew this or all catholics knew that.

Now that the bishops have realized the gravity of the situation, the freewheeling ways have become strongly ingrained in the people.

Somewhere along the way, the politics became the religion, and the religion became something to do on a sunday morning.

And their attitude when they’re now challenged is “so what!”

And alot of these folks suffer from Bush derangement syndrome so bad you can’t reason with them anyway.
