Did Obama Return to Hawaii to Attend His Grandmother's Funeral?

Did Obama return to Hawaii to attend his grandmother's funeral? I don’t recall hearing anything about this if he did. How is he going to respect the American people when he can’t even respect the woman who helped raise him?

Oh, please.

Just because we’ve had a setback is no reason to panic.

We have not yet run out of substantive issues with which to disagree with him - this nonsense is neither required nor helpful.

It’s really odd. She was the only one who could prove Obama wasn’t born in the US. When it came down to the wire, he “visited” her and she died 2 days later. And he didn’t go to her funeral

I never thought of that. If she passed away on the 3rd, the funeral should have been Thursday or Friday.

I have been thinking the same thing. It is really bizarre. He said a day ago that he didn’t know when he would make time to go to the funeral. How nice.

Didn't hear anything about him returning.

She's on ice for whenever he can stop congratulating himself. Right now HE is his own spot light. Besides, she's “typical white folk”. Notice how Michele and the kiddies didn't go to visit her before she UNEXPECTDLY died. I am suspicious of that ... yeah throw your flames at me. What you don't realize HE DOESN&#d, abortion, he wouldn't “punish his daughters with a baby” are HIS VALUES.

He already had the Governor seal his CLB the last time he visited granny. No need to go back just to bury her. BTW, would an autopsy show bus tire marks on granny?

What’s the Muslim tradition for burial?

Keep in mind this is a female burial. Do the Muslims bother to even bury females? I ask because they loath females.

12:15 p.m. - Obama to Attend Grandmother's Memorial Service in Hawaii

A memorial service next month for Barack Obama's grandmother will be attended by the president-elect and his family in Honolulu.

Madelyn Dunham died just two days before the election at the age of 86.

Obama flew to Hawaii in the final days of his presidential campaign to see her before she died.

The service is expected to be small, private and low key, according to Dunham's wishes.

I’ve been thinking the same thing, but didn’t want to say it. Several days ago, I looked up who was with her when she passed on. It was Obama’s sister. So I looked up what I could find out about her. She supported him for O’s presidency as one would expect, but she also seemed to be a genuinely nice person, much more so than her older brother. I didn’t see any obvious red flags, but then they would try to hide them if any existed. I also think it’s highly suspicious that he did not take his daughters to see their great-grandmother just before she died.

The vanity vs. new article ratio expectation may need to be adjusted for the next few years. I doubt there will be much in the way of negative articles.

Thanks about it, traditional news has a majority Dem customer base. Øbama sent a strong message ejecting the McCain-endorsing papers on Halloween.

If they want to keep their customers, their supply of articles must meet the demand. The customer demand for them in positive, feel good puff pieces exalting The One™.

Why would he feel the need to attend the funeral of someone he had whacked (to keep her from revealing any damning secrets, and to garner some sympathy votes)?

The only reason he went back to HI in the first place, was to sign some documents in person so that his birth records could officially be kept sealed. The HI Governor stated that fact shortly after he left, if I recall.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this stuttering radical nutcase, and serial Chicago-machine thug DO ANYTHING to get into, and maintain, power.

Actually, I have wondered if she is actually dead. I’m thinking the whole sick and dead grandma is very convenient for keeping investigators from getting to her. Funny how the birth cert. was sealed right after he left the island, and granny was the only person living who could now answer the question, and she was getting senile. Might spill too much info. (the tinfoil hat fits nicely)

You said — “The vanity vs. new article ratio expectation may need to be adjusted for the next few years. I doubt there will be much in the way of negative articles.”

All the better then. We can comment on the excessive “fawning” over Obama and also correct the wrong information and assumptions and/or mistaken policy decisions being made, and so on and so forth.

There’s going to be no shortage of news articles to comment on...

Saying stuff like this is like the moonbats accusing Todd Palin of fathering Trig with his daughter.

We’ve got bigger fish to fry, with a lot more evidence.

I believe he was busy at the time. Ya’ think?

For heaven’s sake, what was he supposed to do?

I understand there is a memorial service planned for the near future which I assume he will attend.

I can’t stand the guy, but criticizing him for that is just a little ridiculous. My understanding is that his grandparents pretty much raised him; his dad was absent and his mom was flaky. It must have been difficult for him not to be able to be there.

I am not thrilled with Obama either but my gosh...some of this is getting silly. After she died, the family decided to have a private service at a later date. That makes sense to me; maybe she wanted to be cremated.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

Please, for the love of God, let us focus on the issues that REALLY matter. I am so so tired of hearing anger over issues like Obama’s dog, or the overdone birth certificate conspiracy.

These issues do absolutely NOTHING to advance the conservative agenda, and instead make us look like the whiny little baby liberals that we have hated for the past 8 years.

Again, not an Obama fan, but he was just there on vacation with his family over the summer. I bet there are plenty of people on this board who want their kids to remember their grandparents more healthy than when they last saw them. My mother did not take me to Massachusetts in 1979 to see my grandfather before he died; does that mean there was something suspicious?

“not an Obama fan”

Me neither (double, triple neither, in fact) but one never knows about these things. It could just be that the woman was too sick to see anyone but the closest family members. Kids can be tough on the sick and visiting the sick can be tough on the kids.

We had some stuff like this in my own family, and there was some conflict over it. All families have issues like this from time to time.

As others have said, these are not the problems with Obama.

And while I do want our side to learn to play hardball a lot better with them dems, and while Bush’s and McCain’s and Palin’s experiences have proven there is no such thing as reaching across the aisle, I also don’t want our side to descend to the level that the left and the media have reached over the past 8 years.

But, as some have pointed out, there’s a wide area between “respectful disagreement” and “gutter smears”.

Your point is well taken. However, his ‘story’ or portrayal of Toots does not necessarily jive with other reports of her condition.

Why was the ‘banking feminist legend’ kept silent since the 2004 interview when she referred to BHO sr as “Straaaaaaaange?”

Her brother reported flying to see her last month for her birthday.
He reported that she celebrated by having a cigarette & a glass of wine.
This was found on a newswire after the election.

No one is saying that she was not a very ill woman, but the lack of family togetherness during the final days strikes many as a bit odd.

“...the lack of family togetherness...”

Yes, Obama seems to come from a rather disrupted and dysfunctional family.

I will give him some credit in that he seems to have over come that in his own marriage and family.
