Well, I’ll have to do some more research but I don’t think this will be good for our economy. At 23% I won’t be buying much of anything. If I buy an item at $100 I’ll be paying $23 dollars in tax.

I’d have to do a comparison on whether I’ll be better off in the long run.

Good idea on doing the research. Once you do you'll understand that nearly 23% of that $100 is embedded corporate taxes. The actual cost of that item is $77. The Fair Tax will eliminate the embedded corporate income taxes and apply it as a separate item on the receipt. Consequently under The Fair Tax the actual cost will be $77. The $23 will applied as the new tax rate. The item will still cost $100. FAQ#47
