The night we waved goodbye to America... our last best hope on Earth
Daily Mail (UK) ^ | November 10, 2008 | Peter Hitchens

Posted on 11/12/2008 6:58:22 PM PST by reaganaut1

Anyone would think we had just elected a hip, skinny and youthful replacement for God, with a plan to modernise Heaven and Hell—or that at the very least John Lennon had come back from the dead.

The swooning frenzy over the choice of Barack Obama as President of the United States must be one of the most absurd waves of self-deception and swirling fantasy ever to sweep through an advanced civilisation. At least Mandela-worship—its nearest equivalent—is focused on a man who actually did something.

I really don’t see how the Obama devotees can ever in future mock the Moonies, the Scientologists or people who claim to have been abducted in flying saucers. This is a cult like the one which grew up around Princess Diana, bereft of reason and hostile to facts.

It already has all the signs of such a thing. The newspapers which recorded Obama’s victory have become valuable relics. You may buy Obama picture books and Obama calendars and if there isn’t yet a children’s picture version of his story, there soon will be.

Proper books, recording his sordid associates, his cowardly voting record, his astonishingly militant commitment to unrestricted abortion and his blundering trip to Africa, are little-read and hard to find.

If you can believe that this undistinguished and conventionally Left-wing machine politician is a sort of secular saviour, then you can believe anything. He plainly doesn’t believe it himself. His cliche-stuffed, PC clunker of an acceptance speech suffered badly from nerves. It was what you would expect from someone who knew he’d promised too much and that from now on the easy bit was over.

Britain has the last laugh as our grand experiment cracks up.

It didn’t take all that long.

I was telling some friends Sunday evening that the world may have a rude awakening coming. You can be France and Italy and Japan when you have a USA to keep the peace and defend the status quo. When the British Empire died we were there to pick up the pieces. We went from Pax Britannic to Pax Americana, but when Pax Romanus ended there was no one to take up the mantle and the known world descended into chaos, violence and 400 years of Darkness. Enjoy the future world.

Thoroughly depressing, especially the last few paragraphs. Hopefully new leaders will rise up to lead us out of this downward spiral before it is too late.

The United States, having for the most part a deeply conservative people, had until now just about stood out against many of the mistakes which have ruined so much of the rest of the world. .... And now the US, like Britain before it, has begun the long slow descent into the Third World. How sad. Where now is our last best hope on Earth?

Still here, but fading fast... Unless we fight.

Believe it or not some of haven’t read it yet..... I’m glad it was posted again. It beats everything published by MSM. If I didn’t know better I’d think you wouldn’t want anyone to read it...

Believe it or not, Peter Hitchens is a brother to Christopher Hitchens.

Shakespeare wrote about snake oil salesmen like Hussien Obama when he wrote “what a tangled web we weaver, when first we practice to decieve”.

His Lordness Obama is nothing more than a charlatan or slik con artist. Slowly, his house of cards will start to collapse under the weight of the lies and false promises it was built of.

It is twilight in America and soon night will fall. Do not fear, the stars of Lincoln and Reagan will point the way and the morning sun will rise again.

It’s ok, br
other of hitchens. Wait until the call to collect guns is called out. There will be open rebellion, and when police officers are shot for illegally entering households and then refuse to do so, Obama’s civilian brigade will be shot trying to do the same thing. Then the police force and armed force will rebel, and you can say goodbye.

How many times does each article need to be posted, then, to compensate for those not paying attention? 10? 20? I was under the impression the general guideline was that each article was to be posted one time only.
