I doubt Paterson is interested in the Senate. He’s got a house in Albany, plus the Governor’s Mansion, and he also has a house in NY City. He’s the Governor. Why would he become a Senator?

I think he wants her out of the senate. Remember, she did say she could handle that 3 am call better than he could. He is going to put her to the test. If she doesn’t pass his “pay scale”, he will probably can her!

BINGO! He wants her where he can control her and where she can't undermine him. This will get her out of the Senate. Next step will be to devise a situation where she fails, then he cans her. Then she's out there with nothing to do but make speeches and bake cookies.

I will be very surprised if she takes the bait.

I recall hearing that Paterson wasn’t even that interested in being Governor and he definitely was not interested in being Senator. The idea was being discussed during the primary as to what he would do if Hillary was elected president. That seems like eons ago.

If Hillary is Secretary of State, she’s out of the senate, and out of running for POTUS...

I am being a little facetious. The thing is, I’m sure that Mr. Paterson is finding that being governor is a lot tougher than being a legislator. He never bargained to be governor, and he has a real mess in New York. There must be a part of him that would think that it would be appealing to leave Albany and enter the Senate. (Oh, and by the way, Paterson has earned my respect. I don’t agree with him, but he has called for cuts, as opposed to tax increases in New York. He will lose this battle, of course, but for a flaming liberal, he at least talks the right talk).

Tinfoil time: Hillary fights (and gets) Speaker, Biden gets Ron Brown'd, 0bama's birth certificate appears.

Good morning Madam President.

Zero wants to remove her from the 2012 playing field. If she accepts the SOS job she'll be in no position to criticize his foreign policy. That doesn’t leave her a lot to run against him with.

If she doesn't accept, it'll be fun to watch her maneuver toward the 2012 election. It might be her last chance to grab the brass ring.

The last I heard was that Paterson was calling for cuts in every other department but his own. I worked for NY State for many years and lived through several austerity budgets. These bureaucrats never cut jobs at the top...just the bottom. Paterson isn’t any different. The majority of administrative positions in the State are politically appointed. God forbid they should let some of their cronies go.

He wants her out of the Senate so she can’t stop his healthcare plan cold as Majority Leader, and otherwise weaken his image on the way to a primary challenge in 2012. He is playing to her vanity. She is far too smart for that.

Not only is that tinfoil, the tinfoil is wrapped waaay too tight... Clinton is in the Senate not the House, as a Senator there's no flipping way for her to become Speaker of the House. Utterly impossible under the Constitution (or what's left of it, at any rate...)

She may try in 2012, but I think she would fare about as well as Edwards did this cycle. Her time has come, and gone...
