Obama and Biden bode well for Constitution
Capital Times ^ | 11/20/2008 | John Nichols

Posted on 11/20/2008 4:27:30 PM PST by SJackson

President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden are supposedly very different pieces of the Democratic puzzle. Obama is the relative newcomer to Washington, the change agent. Biden is the senior "man of Washington," the old hand who can make change a reality. But Obama and Biden have one thing in common: They've both done stints as constitutional law professors. Obama taught at the University of Chicago Law School -- along with brilliant former jurist and liberal Congressman Abner Mikva -- while Biden has for many years taught at Widener Law School in Delaware.

This unique pairing intrigues New York Congressman Jerry Nadler. "(Isn't this) a change?" muses Nadler, who chairs the Constitution subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee. "After eight years of trashing the Constitution, we have an administration that actually respects the document."

Wisconsin Democrat Tammy Baldwin, a House Judiciary Committee member, says that "if we are not able to hold the current administration to account, then when this administration hands over its responsibilities and authorities to a President Obama and to a Vice President Biden, they will responsibly choose not to exercise some of the powers that we would argue were overreaches by this administration. I would hope, also, that they would choose to help us to renounce the activities -- torture and rendition, spying on American citizens without a warrant, outing CIA agents, whatever it is -- that have been identified as abuses. Given their grounding in constitutional law, they should be inclined to do that."

So maybe when a new president and vice president swear oaths to defend the Constitution, they might actually mean it?

"Exactly," says Baldwin.

As to the asthma, what can you say, it could be legit, though I’ve never seen a picture of Joe with an inhaler. Guess it got better, quickly.

When John Nichols, Tammy Baldwin, and Jerry Nadler join together in a socialist circle-jerk it is not worthy of publication — this is just what leftists do together behind closed doors, but they don’t have enough discretion to keep their silly fantasies to themselves.

“Stand up, America” - Joe Biden

??

Has Biden already plagiarized my battle cry?

Did you see the photo of his visit with VP and Mrs. Cheney?
He had to be standing on a 12” high banker box.
Obama-PE, Biden-PE.

“After eight years of trashing the Constitution, we have an administration that actually respects the document.”>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Then why hasn’t Obama released his birth documents to show he was naturally born in the USA, as required by Article II of our Constitution? Instead he has spent over 1 million dollars obscuring his birth record, defending 5 court cases,
one of which is scheduled for a conference in SCOTUS on Dec. 5th?

Been following that on World Net Daily - seems several law suits out there ... then did Kerry ever show his form 180(?) - I think the MSM will just push that aside as Obama bashing/racist comments and go on to other things like praising Michelle’s wardrobe ...

That would be covered in the footnote, in secret ink on the back of the Constitution, just under the giant O. Natural born to be determined by the President elect, upon election his word being sacrosinct.

They covered that in a movie. Yes, I know he's not President elect yet, but I forgot the term.

Remember, these people will soon be running our nation.

I remember, and it scares me a little.

Thanks for the post.

But Obama and Biden have one thing in common: They've both done stints as constitutional law professors.

To begin with, I didn't reference the names of the schools Obama and Biden have been law professors at to save the schools some embarrassment. But I will also note that neither the editors at Capital Times or John Nichols evidently know the Constitution.

Next, stand back everybody! Regardless that only justices are trusted to possess the wisdom necessary to interpret the Constitution, here's Thomas Jefferson's "secret formulas" for interpreting the Constitution.

"Laws are made for men of ordinary understanding and should, therefore, be construed by the ordinary rules of common sense. Their meaning is not to be sought for in metaphysical subtleties which may make anything mean everything or nothing at pleasure." --Thomas Jefferson to William Johnson, 1823. ME 15:450

"Common sense [is] the foundation of all authorities, of the laws themselves, and of their construction." --Thomas Jefferson: Batture at New Orleans, 1812. ME 18:92

"Common sense is not so common." --Voltaire, French author, humanist, rationalist, & satirist (1694 - 1778) =:^O

The truth of the matter is that, given their liberal voting records concerning federal government spending and social issues, Obama and Biden, along with many other DC lawmakers, are as constitutionally clueless as they come. No apples for these so-called professors.

More specifically, constitutionally ignorant DC lawmakers, particularly the Democrats, have been in contempt of the following constitutional statutes since the time that constitutional flunky FDR established his constitutionally unauthorized New Deal federal spending programs.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 18: To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution (emphasis added) in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The bottom line is that we are unthinkingly sending people to DC, people like Obama and Biden, who then backstab the voters by regulating social issues and spend taxpayer dollars based on constitutionally nonexistent federal government powers. In fact, I'm glad that Obama is president-elect. This is because the people will ultimately be forced to reconnect with the Constitution and its history in order to protect themselves from Socialist Obama's misguided pen.

The two will make a dangerous combination. Both know Constitutional law and will use that knowledge to subvert it. They will know that little changes in law will make huge consequences. Also, expect a huge political assault when the next Supreme Court Justice replacement occurs. All will be posed in the spirit of “Delaware bipartisanship.”

“During his debate with Palin, Biden couldn’t even correctly name the article of the Constitution that outlined the Executive Branch.” Yo=Yo

As well as incorrectly stating that the VPOTUS role was only in the Executive Branch and that it is therefore exclusively and Executive office. The VPOTUS role is discussed in BOTH Article I and II.

Stupid Biden.

They've both done stints as constitutional law professors.

And yet neither of them have any clue about the Constitution and what it really means.

Not a peep from the MSM. Its all over the blogosphere.

And RUSHmore hasn't even mentioned it.Guess he won't tip his hand.

Would I ever like to be an ant on the window sill listening in on that one!

Obamabi just got throgh dissing Thomas publicly last week.

Yet, they are going to support the (un)Fairness Doctrine?

The execrable author of this execrable piece, John Nichols, would contend that, certainly, he has an unlimited right to free speech. Because he is a right-thinking liberal.

Limbaugh, Hannity and you, however, do not. Because they are wrong-headed, mean-spirited conservatives.

He would assert this with a straight face.
