WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama promoted an economic plan Saturday he said would create 2.5 million jobs by rebuilding roads and bridges and modernizing schools while developing alternative energy sources and more efficient cars.
"These aren't just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis. These are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long," Obama said in the weekly Democratic radio address.
The goal is to it quickly through Congress, with help from both parties, after Obama takes office Jan. 20. The plan, which envisions those new jobs by January 2011, is "big enough to meet the challenges we face," he said.
Obama noted the growing evidence the country is "facing an economic crisis of historic proportions" and said he was pleased Congress passed an extension of unemployment benefits this past week. But, he added, `We must do more to put people back to work and get our economy moving again."

I’m actually ok with this plan to get some infrastructure projects going as long as only US citizens are allowed to be part of the workforce.
I fear you are correct though. Our “friend” GWBush essentially fell asleep at the wheel while 15 million new democratic voters entered the US from Mexico from 2000 to 2008. And with the economic downturn, many of those 15 million who have jobs will probably lose them and we’ll be in the mess of trying to support them if Obama and dems grant amnesty.

Plenty to do I see. Spying, writing up reports after listening to spies, working the trains, building the camps, building ‘showering’ facilities, arranging and working shipping routes to get rid of dissenters.
Then of course, confiscating, sorting, and distributing the possessions and land property of ‘criminals’ to loyalists and new recruits.
Clerical work such as taking names, ages, filing the paperwork, stacking it and getting identification numbers for prisoners.
Fashion design: designing uniforms according to category.
Working in press, PR, coordinating development of education films with Hollywood and new material for teaching. Stage shows, cartoons, movies and songs.
Farming in communes and only allowing married couples to meet and copulate every so often in a specific area curtained off with a guard outside to tell them when their time is up. Portrait of Obama in the room to encourage good patriots to breed new soldiers for the revolution and also discourage psychological intimacy using Obama as a distraction. Also discourages ‘weak minded’ people from copulating because of Obama distraction. Food rationed and distributed.
Hospital facilities created to keep hygiene up to snuff to ensure healthy babies are born and keep breeders as healthy as possible. Daycare facilities set up to keep children from developing ‘unnecessary attachments’ to mothers/breeders. Only party members of good standing and ‘irreproachable reputation’ are allowed to maintain family unit with frequent checks by case worker to ensure that child is not corrupted by ideas of unimportance and impurity such as the concept of individuality and accomplishment for the self alone.
Housekeeping: maids and other houseworkers ‘volunteer’ to clean homes of party members following all orders with unquestioning obedience.
Those of high intelligence are taught ideals of party by ‘teachers’ and if ‘incorrigible’ are exterminated.
Military: I don’t need to say I think.

And the exact people who are the same voted for him. They’ve never had to build from scratch, plan a business strategy, get funds, and make and follow through long term plans.

At this point the people who think this stuff appears out of thin air are going to be the ones starving in the streets when the benefit train falls to pieces and Obama is no longer able to throw money to them because he and his goons have killed off all the producers and the survivors are in exile.

The reason I think that there will be no outrage is exactly what we see in Cuba ie "the people" have just enough to keep from starving, being cold, being without shelter. In other words, they are complacent with not enough motivation to revolt. That, IMO, is the secret of what makes socialism/communism/progressivism work. And I could see it happening here in USA
Don’t forget the concessions need to appease enviro-regs, states, cities, counties and neighborhood groups in order to get anything done.
Folks will be wishing for how simple things were for the WPA.
Buah created 2 million jobs just in 2005 alone. Its going to take this asshat 3 years to do the same?
