Congratulations, Alamo-Girl, on the Release of Your New Book!
There Is Only One Great Commandment
Lulu Press, 2008
It is my honor and distinct pleasure to announce the publication of Alamo-Girls new book, There Is Only One Great Commandment, a prayerful work of Christian witness and devotion that speaks to how one centers ones life in God. A non-denominational, non-sectarian work, it focuses on Christian living on the growth of the Image of Christ in our souls, in our everyday lives.
In There Is Only One Great Commandment, Alamo-Girl offers to conduct you on a spiritual walk through the Scriptures, using the Lords Prayer as the guiding map, mining the truths embedded within that prayer. As marron writes on the cover, "Each word and phrase has been pulled out, held to the light, admired, contemplated, and then returned carefully to its place. And the way it was written is exactly the right way to read this book: This is not a book to read in a day but tasted and chewed morsel by morsel. Take your time. Let it sink in line by line. You wont be disappointed."
All to the glory of God in Christian faith and confident affirmation that there is only one great commandment: To love God with your whole heart, and soul, and mind to love Him surpassingly above all else.
And thus we have yet another work published by a Freeper author! Earlier this year, likelight published his excellent A Believers Guide to Legal Issues (which very lately was an invaluable resource for me as I faced a case of settle or litigate in my own personal life). As the cover jacket says, this book isnt written for legal scholars or ivory-tower intellectuals, but for average Christians currently interacting in some way with the legal system (whether by choice or unavoidable circumstance). It promotes a system of Christian legal ethics that restores relationships, values integrity, and promotes peace. It confronts an out-of-control secular legal system that destroys relationships, idolizes greed, and celebrates revenge . Readers will be enlightened, encouraged in their faith, and empowered in their ability to make sound decisions to honor that faith, even in the high-stakes, pressure-filled, secular legal arena.
In 2006, Alamo-Girl and betty boop published their collaboration, Dont Let Science Get You Down, Timothy, to which marron contributed two brilliant articles. The book has been described by an astrophysicist reviewer as one of the rare attempts nowadays to restore the unity of science and religion. It presents a good picture of present-day science, focusing on the perennial great questions regarding the relations between Man and the Universe. It attempts the virtually impossible: to present a constructive dialog of diametrically opposed worldviews. It succeeds in opening a challenging avenue of conversation between materialists and open-minded religious people .
I have learned that there are other works in progress within the Freerepublic creative community! So stay tuned .
CONGRATULATIONS, Alamo-Girl, on the publication of this marvelous work of Christian witness, testimony, and spirituality!
But more than this, Alamo-Girl's testimony shows us how to walk with God in our lives something she has been doing for nearly five decades. Her main testimony in this book is that there is only ONE Great Commandment, the first: To love God with one's whole heart and soul and mind; that is, to love Him surpassingly above all else. When one is centered in God, all else flows naturally from that, including the love of neighbor. And we begin to bear the image of Christ in our soul....
This work is extraordinarily lovely and spiritually powerful. A labor of love, it is an invitation to "all ye that labor" to "come unto Him," to learn from Him, Christ our Lord. "And He shall give thee rest."
In this chaotic, secularized world we live in, this book shows you how to gain meaning and peace in your life.
I keep my copy close by!
Again, Alamo-Girl, Congratulations and Thank You for this labor of Love!

Congratulations A-G. What a beautiful cover and I’m sure the inside is just as impressive. I’ll have to look for it at the bookstore and I’ll even pay full price. :O)

Bless you AlamoGirl.
I wish your new book much success. You've earned it.
Did anybody ping Matt Drudge?
Thank you, congratulations and blessings, Sandi.
I look forward to the reading and reflection R&R.
Thanks for your kind mention of my book! You are so gracious and articulate as usual!
What a wonderful accomplishment for the glory of God! Congratulations!
I just can’t understand why he doesn’t answer.
I am reminded of the line in the Patti Smith tune - “Why must we pray screaming?”
And seems to me he gets only mediocre reviews as a father - what kind of father lets his kids pull some of the sh*t we do?
Anyways, you both know my faith pretty much disintegrated when my wife passed - and I truly did have alot, I was always convinced that if a person honestly asks questions he would get answers.
That was then, this is now. Oh well...
As miserable as it can be, at least yesterday I bought and delivered the Thanksgiving dinner to the family I adopted through United Way.
Life goes on.
TEX: Thanks so much for the ping my FRiend! Wonderful news! Our AG is brilliant and shines once again.
AG: Thanks again for all you do and being who you are.
I just submitted my order! Thanks for the heads-up.
I have always enjoyed your posts. They ring True with a capital “T”.
Pinging everyone to congratulate Alamo Girl!
Fantastic! Our Father has called forth many witnesses in these dark times, and Alamo Girl is a shining example.
How can we order this? Maryxxx
Congratulations Alamo Girl
I look forward to reading this work.
If it is anything like your insights on the daily devotional threads it will be a treasure.
Dear djf, I hope you will not find the following crass or insensitive. But: Have you ever considered that maybe you're not asking the right questions?
After such a devastating loss as yours, it is not surprising that a person could "lose" his faith. I hope this won't sound too silly, but in my view, this doesn't mean that his faith has "lost" him, i.e., left him. It's still there, recorded in his spirit, soul, memory; it just needs noticing and then strengthening, all working to the Good. The thought occurs to me that A-G's new book might be useful to you at the present time.
May God ever bless you, djf!
I look forward to reading this book. Many a Christian have struggled in those same issues.
Hope it’s a blessing to you. When you get my book, make sure you notice the official endorsement quote on the back cover - - - it’s from none other than Alamo-Girl!!!
Thanks for your kind words, HarleyD! But I have no idea how soon you'd have to wait for that.
The fact is, "bricks-and-mortar" (i.e., physical bookshops) have limited shelf space. And what they have they tend to populate with the "tried and true": A new work by a relatively obscure author is not likely to be there soon. A simple fact of the commercial book marketplace.
There Is Only One Great Commandment is pending registration with Bowker's book list, which gives entrée to all book distribution channels, on-line and in-store. Processing takes 36 weeks. Then, the work will be available through all on-line booksellers, such as Amazon and Barnes&Noble. And, even if it's not on the shelf of your local bookstore, because of its registration with Bowker's, you can order it from there.
The price per copy is the same everywhere, regardless of distribution channel: $13.50.
I put up the announcement today because the book is available directly from the publisher in the interim (same price). The Christmas Season is now upon us, a time for renewal and rededication of our faith. Especially this year this seems most desirable. The incoming Administration may or may not be hostile to religion; and so we Christians need to find the Rock on which we can safely stand in order to withstand what may be a gathering storm against our religious liberty, not to mention other constitutional rights.
This link There Is Only One Great Commandment takes you directly to the publisher, Lulu Press.
Thank you so much for your interest in this fine book!
Amazon isn’t carrying your book.
Where can it be bought?
Thank you Alamo Girl! We just studied The Lord’s Prayer in our Church.
This will be a great encouragement too.
Thank you Miss Betty for posting! ;-)
The cover is absolutely gorgeous! I’ll take a look. Congratulations Alamo Girl!!
Wonderful! I look forward to reading it.
This is good news; I’m proud for you.
By the way, neat cover...
