I recently turned 60 and I don’t even like the sound of that number. However, I am alive and still blessed to be with the most beautiful woman in the world, so it’s not that bad. ;>) BTW.... she still cuts my hair too.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hey, I just hope to have hair at that age. :)

Some days on the Special Report panel, there is probably no one on screen who is not wearing a hairpiece. :)

I too will miss Brit. I always looked forward to his daily news broadcasts. His honest and crisp perspectives were always refreshing. Thanks Brit for your views and enjoy your family and Christian walk.

THR: DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR YOUR SUCCESSOR?

Hume: Keep an eye out for the stories that are being done one way by the media where there's a legitimate, alternative way to do it. There's a homogeneity and outlook in the media that provides an opportunity for someone who is willing to take another look.

Brit's Special Report is the best news show on television IMO and the above is one big reason why. I wish him the best and hope FOX News maintains his philosophy.

I doubt that Brit wanted to host FNS. He was already managing the news division and doing Special Report every day. There’s additional prep time in hosting a Sunday show. When fox dismissed Tony Snow, Brit was already in his 60’s and probably did not want to start working seven days a week.

Hello Brit Hume.

Our family has always enjoyed the format and info on Special Report.
It’s the only show we watch regularly now on the Fox Channel.

We did watch some of the specials with E.D. Hill.

May God bless you Brit in all your endeavors.

I used to love Brit and Special Report. It was my 6:00 p.m. hour of TV a day. Then I caught this and knew my doubts about the post debate analysis, keeping of Bill Kristol, etc. was not my imagination.

I still wish Brit Hume a peaceful and happy retirement.

The problem with that theory is McCain was in no better shape than anyone else. Yet they continued to give him front runner status while basically ignoring Romney.

IIRC, that story was mentioned in the Grapevine segment, which is usually comprised of a series of humorous, offbeat, or relatively minor news stories. Often they are apparently just taking stories right off the news wires--many of which were previously posted on FR. It's the Special Report version of the "weird news" stories on some websites.

Given the "Grapevine" context, I'll give Brit a pass here.

After New Hampshire, McCain became the surprise front runner, and so got a spike in news coverage. IIRC, Romney never led the delegate race. Despite that, I seem to remember Romney getting a lot of coverage on Special Report during the primaries, along with McCain, Huck, Fred, Rudy.

Brit Hume has been a man that I felt I could trust to deliver a balanced, fair and substantial report each day. I hope that we have not seen the last of his insight. I thank him for his long dedication.

Journalism as it should be. Praying that you keep “working,” as in a long life to you. You are truly a respected and original individual in your field. Best to you forever! You are the BEST.

I shall truly miss Brit. I have looked forward to the evening news with relish as no one has been able to capture it with his special insight.

He is one true gentleman.

I was crushed when his son committed suicide.

It would appear that the loss of his son brought him to a special relationship with The Son, and for that I am thankful.

I had noticed that he alluded to his "faith" on more than one occasion, when fitting.

Though I shall personally miss seeing him and hearing his voice regularly, I understand that he finds that life is about more than his career, no matter how very good he is at it.

Godspeed Brit and know that we hold you in the highest esteem.

Obviously Brit is doing this now rather than next year, because after the O gets in office and starts cranking out executive orders, Komrade Brit would be subject to jail time for leaving work for “religious” reasons.

Verbotten!!

Brit is a great example of living a Christian life to its fullest.

And anchoring a news program has to be a drain we can not ever imagine on Faith in Christ.

God Bless you Brit.

The past few months, the most valuable segment of the show has been the funny spot at the end.

Brit Hume was the reason we got satellite TV with FOX. I am glad he is retiring while still in his prime. FOX has gone bad and is no longer politically fair and balanced. I do not expect that the panel which Brit moderated will exist after he leaves as there has been considerable rotation of the members for some time. There are good people at FOX but unless they walk the Murdoch line of left of center, they will not last long. I wish the very best for Brit in whatever direction his new life takes him. He has contributed immeasurably to the quality of TV news reporting and I am sure he has had a positive impact on many of those left behind.

I shall also miss him on Special Report. It shall be be longer four years without Brit.

Hopefully, he can utilize his exceptional communications skills to further the cause of Christ. Perhaps as a guest speaker at churches, perhaps host an occasional "faith based" TV series, perhaps on radio. There is much he could do that does not require the daily grind of a national newscast.

Indeed, the comic relief at the end of Special Report has been much appreciated of late. The Mrs. and I often both end of laughing out loud.
