Why does Sarah Palin continue to receive so much media coverage? Peggy Noonan has a theory. The Wall Street Journal columnist believes the MSM is up to what she considers "mischief": attempting to make Sarah Palin the face of the Republican party.

Noonan hates Palin. Noonan doesn’t understand real Americans and she has lost touch with the Conservative base. Noonan is useless at this point.
Didn’t Noonan dump on Palin before? Oh yes, she dumped on Palin when she though the microphone was dead. That was gutless.

The MSM never misses a chance to trash Palin. Noonan is clueless.

Same thing they wanted to do with Reagan. The Democrats wanted to run against him, too.
That didn’t work out too well for them, though.
That was the first shot that they considered as "throwing down the gauntlet" and the MSM hammerred her from that point on.
Im not saying its deserved or right, just that thats how they reacted. IMO
Noonan is a “has been” trying to be relevant. Send her to West Palm Beach, of Carmel Ca., she can dress up every weekend and spin her tales of better times.

I hope it gets so "GOD" -ed up that all us unsophisticated hillbilly types who have these quaint ideas of freedom, rule of law, liberty, and morality... I hope those people come in droves and embarrass you so bad you never speak in the name of the GOP again.
One of the things I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving is no longer finding it necessary to read anything written by Kathleen Parker or Peggy Noonan :)

Dear Peggy....The media, including you, wants to destroy Palin. The media hates that Palin is so popular. But everytime the media puts Palin on TV, their ratings skyrocket. Palin is popular because she represents the value of the man you once wrote speeches for, values which you seem to have long forgotten.
Peggy Noonan needs to go pound dirt. She cannot stand that Palin wasn’t “bred” and “groomed” from birth to be President, unlike so many other people. Noonan may have written great speeches for President Reagan, but President Reagan’s beliefs and principles were clearly the “meat” of the speeches. ALL Noonan has ever been and all she will ever be is window dressing.

Here in liberal Maryland Palin is a curse because she is pro-life. Even republicans here who tend to be liberal liked McCain but disliked Palin.. They ate up the press reports, didnt care about Bidens gaffs because he didnt make the news.
Noonan should be Barack Obama’s press secretary.
Last night laying in my sick bed, I watched a bit of Hardball, and they were trying really hard to find a way to say Palin was the reason McCain lost. Where on earth do they get this crap? Without her, he would have gotten about 10% of the vote, and most republicans would have stayed home. I’ve decided I have to watch these liberal shows more often just to understand where these opinions.

Someone who blithely says we should go to war with Russia if it invades Georgia (as she told Charlie Gibson), and who did little more than repeat her applause lines over and over again on the campaign trail hasn't yet shown the substance it will take to draw a wider base beyond a segment of conservatives. Who does she take us for, a bunch of boobs? Include me out!
Like many here I initially was thrilled by her selection, especially after the convention speech, but it became apparent there wasn't much substance after the speeches. It's time for us to work on ourselves as a conservative movement, get back to basics, and develop a deeper bench of solid conservatives throughout the party, instead of building a cult of personality around "Sarah," which seems to be the norm around here.

They hammered her relentlessly for 5 days prior to her uttering those words, including some of the most vicious personal smears I've ever seen in politics.
They were going to hammer her no matter what she said. John McCain had the audacity to nominate someone who was unknown to them, unvetted by them and with a set of values and lifestyle that was anathema to them. The assault on her started the moment that happened.

I went for Sarah at first too-she is apologetically conservative-refreshing. However, she also symbolizes what is wrong with the GOP-applause lines, but no new ideas to solve what is some very serious problems in the US.

This statement alone identifies you as a liar or a fool; either way, you are worthy of being ignored.
I agree with you that she “did little more than repeat her applause lines over and over again on the campaign trail” and I also “initially was thrilled by her selection, especially after the convention speech”, and I also agree with you that “it became apparent there wasn’t much substance after the speeches”, but I’m still willing to give her the benefit of the doubt based on the fact that Palin was sabotaged by her “handlers” in the McCain campaign. She’s got some time now to prove what she’s capable of outside of her association with one of the biggest RINOs ever to lumber on to the political stage.
I think the media is doing it’s first accurate reporting in a while. Americans want Sarah Palin to be the face of the GOP because we like her!!!
Noonan is part of that so-called mischievous MSM. If Palin is the new face of the GOP I am all for it. Enough with the warm/fuzzy, reach-across-the-aisle RINO’s, including that has-been Thesaurus, Noonan.
With Gov Palin we'll have a 'face' of integrity, decency and one committed to genuine conservatism, instead of the other options that are of the 'two-sided' variety.

Strange that she, Parker, Will, Brooks and the other true “fringe” people on the conservative side can’t get over condescending to the one candidate on the GOP side who could and will continue to attract huge crowds and financial support (I raised a ton of money for McCain and I wouldn’t have given him a cent without her on the ticket). Peggy Noonan has to have someone to be condescending to because if you read her columns closely, she says absolutely nothing that makes the slightest sense. Just a lot of airy maxims from an author who is not overly bright but who needs to convince her real audience (the West Side liberals who will invite her to their cocktail parties so she can say snippy things about Palin) that she is a “deep thinker”. Her columns are frankly, terrible, and I could not put it more succinctly than a commenter here who said “she writes like she is constantly trying to balance a plate on the top of her head”.
You didn't mention how horrible she was during her interviews, even with Hannity. I think those were abberations, due to her not being fully up to speed on the national issues, and her handlers scripting her too much, causing her to have to try to remember what to say instead of just saying it. I also think you're overstating her going to war with Russia if it invades Georgia.
None this means that Palin is hands down the candidate for 2012, as we have Jindal and Daniels, among others, to consider. But get off the "Palin is a disaster for the party" bandwagon. The media isn't going after her this hard if she wasn't a viable threat, and there is an elitist snot aspect to our party that is rejecting her for reasons which the rest of us find endearing and connecting.
Did anyone notice that Noonan refers to her as “Mrs Palin” instead of Governor Palin?

Noonan is so over. She reminds me of that Norma Desmond character in “Sunset Boulevard”. Pathetic has-been.
