Let's not forget the head scarves. Just think of poor Isadora Duncan.

My first thought, as well. For those who don't know, Isadora Duncan was a world-famous dancer and courtesan at the beginning of the 20th century who was killed when her long, trailing scarf that was wrapped around her head and neck became entangled in the spokes of the convertible sports car in which she was riding. When the car accelerated, the wheel spun the scarf tight and strangled her.

Or, ‘keep your personal life to yourself’.

No, it’s not. I just think kids in school should have something better to do than advertise whether they are or aren’t having sex. I think this puts too much emphasis on it.

When I was a kid, my folks wouldn't let me wear a scarf, because of Isadora Duncan.

Why not just say no at the appropriate time and leave it at a personal level instead of wearing something publicly that one knows will cause controversy?

Why didn't you just read the article and leave it at a personal level instead of posting a comment publicly that one knows will cause controversy?

I guess because it’s a public forum on the WWW.

It’s only a controversy to fools.

There are already gay awareness days. Kids can wear shirts that say "Celebrate Diversity" or anything about "Tolerance". They can have special days where they have tape on their mouth, to visually symbolize how they're "silenced". They can have gay clubs in schools. The schools promote and sponsor mandatory diversity or tolerance work shops.

Its all pretty controversial stuff, and yet it happens. The only thing that slows it down, or possibly stops it is the ACLJ or other groups like it.

Meanwhile, should a kid wear a t-shirt that would say something like "Celebrate Straightness" (nothing ANTI-gay) he/she would have to remove it, because it would be "divisive" or "provocative".

So whats the big deal about a chastity ring? If it does say anything, somebody would have to hold the persons hand still and get up close to read it.

A chastity ring is nothing more than a symbol. To others its to symbolize, if you want a piece of meat, look somewhere else, I'm not interested.

But in reality it symbolizes right versus wrong. Morality vs immorality. It symbolizes that THERE IS a difference in this world. We're not all the same. And in the end, some ARE better than others.

“The principal said, and I quote: “’The ring would be extremely dangerous in PE, technology or science lessons.”

Clothes could be, too. They could get caught in something or catch on fire.

“Yesterday, Mrs Jarrett defended the ban and said: ‘The ring would be extremely dangerous in PE, technology or science lessons.”

Bet she could have multiple body piercings and no one would have an issue with that.

Couple of thoughtd:

What was the rule before this?

Many atheletes wear rings. They just take them off when the play. Why can't someone wear a ring in the class room and put it in their pocket or bag when participating in sports or other "dangerous" activities.

Kids NOT having sex is only dangerous to those who want to have sex with kids.

Sounds like she was. It was the other busy-bodies that stuck their nose in her business.

What next? No crucifixes?

You can have my pentacle when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers...

Although the attempt at sarcasm is not lost on me, certain types of clothes are typically banned in shop and/or chemistry classes.
