If it ended in a shootout, it would only take a few incidents like that to make it impossible for law enforcement to continue.
You are correct that it is a horrible situation but what else could anyone do? If they start seizing weapons it is for a purpose and stopping it sooner rather than later would be the least bloody.
I’ve asked my neighbors if they’d give up their firearms. Not one say yes. In fact you cannot buy guns at the local gun store, all firearms sold out.

It’s a choke. The restriction is barely discernible by finger, just thousands of an inch. DO NOT FIRE without one in place, you’ll trash the threads. Read the book, and if you want an open one, buy one at your local shop-get cylinder bore. Tell them make of gun, they can get you one.

If a deputy came to your house, and you refused to turn over your weapon, if he didn’t kill you, he would call a SWAT team. If they didn’t kill you (unlikely), they would turn it over to the next level of defense (federal probably), who would bump it up and up until you had the tanks, etc. in your front yard.
Could you shoot a deputy (possibly a friend or neighbor) who came to take your gun? I couldn’t. Same thing all the way up the ladder. We would be shooting at friends and neighbors, and the federal government has far more fire power than we do.

I see it happening in several different ways:
1. They come to a person’s house to take away their weapons after they’ve passed a law against gun ownership. Person refused to turn over weapons, if they leave the person would expect them to come back with backup forces. Person now packs up and leaves, or stay and fight. People resisting in this manner would start making the news. More would start resisting.
2. They order people to re-education camps. People refuse knowing that those that fail or cause trouble at the camps will be taken somewhere and executed. So people would refuse to go and decide to make a stand when the Gestopo came for them. Or they would leave and live off the land until the time arrives to make a stand.
3. Some event triggers a large protest to happen by patriots and government forces fire into the unarmed crowds. If the government forces refuse to fire into the protesters the government would collapse and we’d set up a constitutional government. In the event troops fired on the crowds, the next protests would be attended by armed patriots. At this stage we have a revolution on our hands.
4. Patriots start moving into areas of the country where there are large groups of conservatives. At some point the group of states seceed from the union and create a new constituional republic using our same US Constitution.
Just a note, if the left can ignore the US Constitutution can’t patriots also ignore it and refuse to pay taxes because we think it is outdated and old and silly?

The reason the left ignores the Constitution (when it doesn't suit their purposes) is that they believe they, being modern day thinkers with more information than the founders, know better than those that wrote such restrictions on their behaviors.
As you said, though, two can play at that game.
"The founders couldn't have known that the educational system would become so corrupt that the majority would prefer communism. So, since we know better, given the information we have now, we are fully justified in not funding the government".
PS - you can do your part in not funding the gov't by jumping through a few hoops and legally reducing your taxes by about half, if you find out how.

Don’t fire the gun with the choke removed, it will damage the barrel threads, just buy a cylinder choke or skeet.
Tes, it is a choke, but don’t fire it without one in place. May destrot the threads. Get a “cylinder” bored choke for faster patter spread. A “full” will make the pattern tight for longer range. “Improved cylinder” is closer to “cylinder” and “modified” is closer to “full”.
