Obama: Gun owners do not need to stock up
Chicago Sun Times ^ | December 7, 2008 | ABDON M. PALLASCH

As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month.

...

But National Rifle Association spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said it's not Obama's words — but his legislative track record — that has gun-buyers flocking to the stores.

...

"Anyone who thinks they need to rush out and buy a firearm clearly has not been paying attention to how quickly we make progress on this issue. We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."

But they’ll make you think you’ll get something in return to think otherwise.

Meaning: The Liberals/Ø’ will try convince you that you will get something for nothing if you vote for a Dem.

Hard to express my thoughts here. Sorry

stockpirate, you hypothesize some very good scenarios that I too can envision.

#2 “Or they would leave and live off the land until the time arrives to make a stand.” In the west, Midwest, Alaska, or even Canada would probably offer enough open land to do this.

#3 “If the government forces refuse to fire into the protesters the government would collapse...” What about the civilian security force Obama wants to form? Would that be “In the event troops fired on the crowds, the next protests would be attended by armed patriots. At this stage we have a revolution on our hands.”? This has happened before, but more equally armed.

#4 “Patriots start moving into areas of the country where there are large groups of conservatives. At some point the group of states secede from the union...” There have been suggestions of just this happening on FR. It may have been said tongue in cheek, but this too has happened before.

Thank you for your detailed reply. It has certainly given me something to think about.

He wishes:

"First-time buyers account for up to 20 percent of sales, and they are outspoken as to why, said owner Dave Costley."

Well said. Winston Churchill had it right a long time ago, and it's still applicable today.

Thank you for the compliment on my family's law enforcement service. They have accomplished a lot of good for the community, but they've given me a lot of gray hair in the process. :-)

I am sorry, 'twas I who was vague...

You expressed your question clearly, and I got that. I was asking, What could I be given in return?

:^)
